Don’t worry I’ve already wondered if this is a valid excuse to just get a new frame, ideally a chisel with a nice paint job to replace my scratched boring looking scale.
Test run today was fine though, bars a spacer lower and seat is already forward a bit, it’s not that steep. What I did find was doing repeated short efforts uphill is quite hard, you can’t really go that easy or you won’t get up, and then the downhill is max 90 secs so it’s ends up being 4’30 threshold effort, 90sec recovery repeat. Did 13 reps today, 40 will be fun

Well, I did the fork swap on the chisel and it wanders a bit more as well. It rides okay but it's designed for 100mm travel. Why not gets frame that is built for the larger fork with a steeper seat tube angle?

I thought it was made for 100-120? Maybe not.
99% chance I won’t swap frames as I only do about 3 Mtb races per year. Will try dropping the stem again and moving seat a bit -

Not that I needed reminding how slow I am on a MTB, but riding Risca today with two World Cup DH mechanics really cemented the fact. Even their dog was quicker than me, and nicked some of my lunch.

How is the riding at Risca?

• #25144
Really good. Some fast flowy stuff, with loads of sniper roots sections. We didn't get to do any of the steep tech as it was "unrideable" according to the locals (it's been really wet). The rides back up are fucking steep too, but doable

The little plastic hook thing broke off and the inside ends of the splines were peened over hence needing the big rock to get the left hand arm on again. Other than that they appear to be ok. What was the cause of the failure- pinch bolts not done up tight enough?
Or... what everyone here is really thinking... just buy a new bike
