Nah, rounds are failing if people don't go over. Parcel volumes may be down on Covid years but there is plenty of work at my depot, might not be the case in the little rural depots though. Its mainly a scare tactic to stop the strikes I reckon, its hurting the shareholders.
I too always send by RM (not because I work there) as most posties actually give a shit if your stuff gets there safe and not left in the rain or slung up against your front door for anyone to nick.

One of the reasons I always use RM is as they give people proper contracts and OKish pay, so looks that's now going too 😡
