I’ve ended up at The White Rock Inn in Underriver. Can recommend primarily nice ride here, good food, nice beer and sizeable beer garden.

Any pubs open after 12 near Hackney Central on a Thursday? Old Ship is up to 12 - is that the latest to expect?

South London pubs that do a good/great sunday roast?
Somewhere close to, or between Peckham Rye, Sydenham and Herne Hill. Thanks

Can't vouch for any of these but I got this in my email today

Thanks, quick check doesn't throw up any new southern suspects apart from the coal rooms in peckham, which is on my list of places to go, but isn't a pub.

The Ivy House used to do a good one. They stopped doing roast dinners for a while I think, but are back doing them now.

The Fellowship Inn in bellingham has just reopened under new management (closed since first lockdown). Haven't been yet but apparently the Sunday roasts are decent. A bit out of your zone but it's next to the station which is on the line to Peckham Rye. Or cycle via Ladywell Fields and Waterlink Way.

Heard the Perry Hill does a good one - haven't been myself.

Perry Hill is a good pub with great beer selection and good food. Pretty old-school with a child-friendly (if a little ramshackle) beer garden.

Any tips for Stratford East Village/Maryland area? Thanks. Just looking for a spot for a quiet pint.
-

The Holly Tree on the edge of Maryland/Wanstead Flats is mega nice

• #788
Is that the one with miniature train in the beer garden?

A bit further south the Black Lion in Plaistow. It's a bus/bike ride away though.

Great tip, thank you! Place seemed to be full of cyclists too, are there some good routes in the area?
Burger was excellent and staff were really lovely. My only reservation is that it's massive so didn't feel particularly cosy and private.
Black Lion looks good too @hoefla , will check it out next time I'm in area. Cheers.

Yup. It's pretty weird but popular with the kids..
@exteroceptive youre welcome! Yes it is quite big, you need to grab one of the booths outside for a quieter experience in the summer.

Just round the corner from Holly Tree you've got the Wanstead Tap, Burgess Hall (wine bar but also has draught) and the Pretty Decent Brewery/Taproom all under the railway arches.
Irregular opening times outside of weeknds but all well worth a visit and will definitely fulfil the cozy vibe, Holly Tree is great but it is massive with an every expanding beer garden.

Nice, thank you! I've been told that the Wild Goose bakery in the railway arches is good too.

Where's good to get a pint near the Barbican?

I used to like the Old Red Cow on Long Lane but haven't been there in ages, so no idea what it's like now. The Sutton Arms on Carthusian Street isn't bad, but if you're prepared to walk a little, there's another Sutton Arms on Great Sutton Street that's terrific.

Sadly the Old Red Cow is not a patch on what it was.

I seem to remember the Hand and Shears being decent.

Ah shame. But good to know.

Any recommends for a pub / bar in/near kings X ?
Never been , but always fancied checking out the Cock Inn at the top of Ide Hill. Cycled past it a few times and always wondered what it's like.
