Who will we switch to for racing?

Well, the national AGM is coming up on 20 Nov. If you're a member, you will have just got info/invite/call for agenda items. But it's a kind of 2-tier organisation, with regional AGMs having already taken place (at least SE region has)

How about the Dutch? They’re pretty chill no?

Sponsored by their Lottery which some equate to the gambling industry but I'm not sure I buy that.
-
• #107
They sure got the fb algorithm sorted quickly

Is here a word or phrase for the people spouting stuff like..
HSBC was bad so this is OK
people ride carbon bikes so this is OK
you need grease for your chain so this is OK
but they are giving a few £ to help disabled cyclists so this is OKSomeone having a carbon bicycle != being comlicit in atrocities (and the rest).
I'd like to be more constructive than telling them to get in the fucking sea. /rant -

Buying new carbon bikes to ride for fun is being complicit in atrocities.
But the phrase is "whataboutism"
-
• #112
What if you buy a new carbon bike to race cross? Cyclocross is an hour threshold workout and the same 5 people win every race. I wouldn't call that 'fun' so IMO is probably ok

Well spotted ! No fossil fuel sponsorship.
-
• #114
For what it's worth, over in my corner of the forest most people I've spoken to are just as upset by oil sponsorship as the rather younger demographic here, but there are a few 'I can't see what's wrong with its'.
I think the loss of goodwill may become a serious problem for BC, since without voluteers many events could not be run. Can there be many people (in any age group) who will want to spend their
spare time helping Shell to sportwash its image? -

"whataboutism"
Whenever I hear this word I think https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKOEJs602uk
Sorry in advance. -

Cancelled. Felt sorry for the chap on the phone who was must have been dealing with constant calls. He was very polite and helpful.
This was the last straw. The transphobia, the ludicrous “don’t cycle on funeral day” and now this. It means my racing career is over but I’ll have to come to terms with that.

If you were a member for the liability insurance, London Clarion gives membership and that for a total of £15 and the opportunity to join in some very slow and social rides.
-
• #119
This is shock news, Clive. Might need to sit down.
-
• #121
Have emailed the Dutch to see if they’ll let me join up and give me a race licence.
-
• #122
Apologists?

There's still time trialling (assuming CTT doesn't implode).
