Can’t speak for anyone else, but my time is my time on site and I charge for that, eg if in there for a day, I charge for a day - I’m not charging you for the time I was running around getting materials sorted, so there’s a % added on top of material costs. I’m also not going to bill for all the bits of bobs of consumables that get used so charging extra on the materials I buy usually covers this as well.
Essentially, it comes down to are you happy with the total price. How it’s broken down is irrelevant.
I hate people buying the materials for me. It’s just an added headache. Also, this whole issue is way more complicated than is realistically worth explaining. And one of the reasons I jumped on the books rather than operating a business tbh.
Also, @princeperch you can’t compare a “6 figure” job to someone doing 6 rads. They will clearly be done differently lol.
I can’t imagine going to change a load of sockets and ringing up at the wholesaler to get the client to pay. Also, the trades may have been happy to do this as it keeps their turnover down.
