Col de Soller is a lovely climb - check out Cycling Planet in Alaro for a snack at lunchtime.

Looks cool, but I'm based in Port de Pollença, which makes it just that bit too far for me these days.

The ride from Port de Pollença to Cap Formentor is well worth it. It's a dead end, but great views make it worth it.
I loved the climb up to the monastery at Sant Salvador, but that's a 130 km round trip from Port de Pollença.

Yeah, I saw that in my hours-long trawl through Majorca climbs and it looks lovely, but a bit far. Although I do have a hire car, so could dismantle the bike and throw it in the boot.
E2a: Cap Formentor on the list for sure.

Pinarello place gave me a great deal on 3 days hire - I wanted non consecutive days so they just gave me the bike for 6 days for the price of 3 - was the older guy who owns it that sorted it out - good chap. Think it was an F8, insured for 120 euros?

Seem to remember Bike Island in Pollenca was happy to flip the brakes on a Giant Defy to UK format even for a short rental - I'm much happier descending from the mountains with right hand front brake muscle menory - a lot of the rentals there are euro setup. If you want to try some exotics there are some places on the strip in Alcudia - BMC and Specialized etc. Most bling bike hire spot that I found was in Soller - Colnagos and Emondas - very nice but pricey

Cheers. I think I'm going to be at the mercy of what's open when I'm there. And given I arrive in the evening on 21 December, the choice is unlikely to be wide.

Quick question on the Sa Calobra climb. I'm heading there from Port de Pollença and have just had a look on Google streetview. Is it, like, uphill pretty much all the way to the Coll dels Reis? And how difficult is that climb up to Col de Femenia? I'm kind of worried nothing is going to be open (snack bar/restaurants, etc) when I'm attempting it, so am a mite concerned about hydration.

unsure if anything will be open right at the top of sa colobra at that time of year, but there is a petrol station by lluc you will cycle past. its a repsol iirc so will definitely be open

Brilliant. Thanks. I don't mind the slog uphill if there's water at the top. Didn't fancy taking on Sa Calobra without liquids, though.

awesome - have a good ride!

Thanks - I will do. Assuming I can hire a bike.
LOL.
What are the 'must visits' on a bike over there? Thinking Puig Major and Sa Calobra, but is there anything else I should consider. Bearing in mind I might only have a couple of days of cycling tops.
