I've done this ride a couple of times. The last time, we got shouted at by copper No.1 on Lower Thames street. A hundred yards further down the road, copper No.2 shouted at us. 'Your mate back there just told us to ride through as quickly as possible' I shouted back.
On The Mall, one of our party was pulled off his bike by a soldier. We went on to pass through the timing gates - then we couldn't find a way to get out of that area. A posh lady wearing more laminates than you could shake a stick at said 'How did you all broach this envelope? I have royalty arriving here in half an hour'. 'We rode here from Blackheath' quipped one of our party. Not being too keen on being shot at, we haven't done the ride since then. We went on to ride through the Limehouse Link, as that was closed to traffic. Got shouted at in there by some guys on a cherry picker fixing the ceiling lights. Managed to ride traffic free down Aspen Way all the way down to the big roundabout at the top of Manchester Road. It was a good day out.
