  • A recent article on Which (based on tumble dryers but touched on other appliances too) had lots of the eco modes being shit. Energy use was only a bit lower and results were worse.

  • With energy prices so high now, it'd be interesting to know how the price stacks up now.

    I think we paid £50 for our condenser (£30+£20 for a new heating element), so it would take quite a while before we'd see our money back. But even if you went new there's still a good £200-400 difference.

    For us I was worried about low outdoor temps with a heat pump as ours is in a brick outdoor shed.

  • Oh ours sits on the standard or express mode and sod the cost. Frankly I can afford the 40p or whatever it is per expensive wash
