essentially if levers and shifters are combined it separates them so you can run different levers... I think

Ah ok, I wasn’t getting the scale, it looked like the threaded holes were water bottle boss spacing to me.
I’ve not had any experience with the new integrated shifter but would have thought changing to sone nice thumb shifter might have been a better option?

I don't really want removeable pedals, but I do need a folding pedal.
I tried a couple folding pedals (admittedly none as expensive as the mks) and was sorely disappointed so went for the Aliexpress removable and think they are great.

What are you doing with the pedal when removed, is there a mount to park it on the bike?
And would you have an Aliexpress link perchance so I can have a look?

Ah thanks can you get a thumb shifter/friction for 2 speed?
Basically it's a 6speed so need two shifters

a question about chainrings. mine is a bit too spinny but I've got one of the ones where the crank is basically part of the chainring.
do I need to change the BB to swap to one of the spider ones ?
edit: the answer is yes duhh

When I remove my left pedal and fold the bike. I impale the pedal on the rh brake lever. It's never shifted from there, and the front mud flap keeps it from coming off.
Or you can get a pedal socket/mount which attaches to the front axle. -

sls30 for 3 speed and a sunrace m90 friction for 2 speed; or I can get you a pair of the shifter mounts in a week or so

the brompton new ones will be available "at some point" aftermarket

There are mounts available but I just stick it in my pocket or the side pocket of my Borough bag.

It's quite nice that whipping even just the one pedal off makes the bike virtually unrideable so if you have to leave it out of your sight (I had to put mine in a cupboard kind of thing in a pub once) then you know that it's not going to get ridden away.

You're next question is going to be "Has it ever come off when riding?" right?
The answer is no. And I ride mine like a proper tit! Off road, kerb hopping, all sorts.

I think my swb bike is on the og bottom bracket and different cranks. I used Dura Ace 7402s so maybe I just got lucky with chainline.
Just had a look, definitely the stock bb.

hit me up if you need a spider chainset! sure I have black and silver.
-
• #12142
based on this i'd have to switch BB's as the non-spider cranks are from 2012?

Thank you good idea

Thanks! Good point about a little bit of thief protection. I've had removeable pedals before (MKS) on something else but just wasn't sure about them for Brompton purposes. I'll have a rethink.

It’s the bb with the big plastic cups that I’ve got, I think that’s the FAG one.
Remember, mixing iso and jis tapers isn’t the end of the world, the angle of the tapers is the same, it’s the length that differs so mixing tapers just won’t give the chainline that the manufacturer intended.

Hey Brompton owners, I have a plan to get a small bike for travelling, like ~1x per week from Vienna to Budapest and back with train, in total about 45km a day on bike. C Line, P Line? 2 speed maybe enough (not hilly but it should be fast if possible), it should not be super heavy, should carry just one bag (like my small Chrome courier bag), lights are possible with battery when it saves much weight. What would be a recommendation? I'd buy new not used, bill needed, actually what I see now it is harder to get a 'company' bike than a company car. A car is like 'you need a car? No problem. A bike? Haha, a silly small bike?'

Go test ride as many bikes as you can, find out what you like / dislike and come back with 5 questions
What's the best flat pedal upgrade currently?
I don't really want removeable pedals, but I do need a folding pedal. MKS FD-7 seem to fit the bill but I see some reports of the folding mechanism not being great.
