Nice. Slather it in oil or paint to help seal it?
-
• #2628
Good thinking, some oil as (in true bodge style) I'm too lazy to paint it

Cut out some of the uunnecesary bits, would look smart.

More of a repair than a hack/bodge I guess. The hand screw's threads of the clamp holder of my repair stand got shredded a bit. Got an M8 flange bolt instead. Works like a charm, more secure and has better stability, albeit a bit slower than hand twisting...

Did you buy the basket from Tesco?

"buy"
I had a few from family members who just sort of put them in a boot of their car and forgot that its not theirs. I think now they put a security tag on them though, but if you ask around usually people have them just kicking around. My ma uses hers for potato haul from a cellar.

Right, thanks

Just borrowed, if they ask for it back I’ll get the welder out

Basket looks great, might stick that on my list of bodges - I'll use bolt cutters instead of the good park cable snips though 😬

you should take the top bit of basket back to tesco and put it in the basket pile

Not mine, but found on the socials.
What could go wrong?

😂 Do you want no basket or 50% of the basket

at least they didn't try and weld it back together!

Tacx bottle had become brittle over time and split, used an inner tube patch to save it from the recycling bin. No negative taste effects to report yet!

Made a mount to hold two d locks on the front rack of the cargo bike. Was using the standard mounts but they kept slipping. This was surprisingly difficult. Those plastic bits have notches which mate with another plastic bit to stop them rotating. I had to grind those off to get them to mount flush here. So I nipped off the points of some brad nails and glued them into the backs of these so that they bite into the wood when tightened down. But I wasn't convinced that would be enough so I also drilled some blind holes into the wood behind these bits and used epoxy so that when that hardens, it will hold onto those holes and stop them rotating. Well, that's the plan. Will see tomorrow when I mount it.

Neat!

Something sticking through & poking out a bit might help prevent rotation

Good idea, but not as neat. I'll see how the epoxy and pointy bits go. If they fail that could well be the next iteration.

Some coated clips mounted further out could work too: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32846896965.html
