Basically what these are
oh yea, hadn't seen these yet 👍

Isn't that just noise cancelling but you reinforce the bit you'd normally cancel? Other
side of the same tech/coinApple have been doing that for a while with the Transparency mode (i.e. earphones in but it doesn't noise cancel). You can tweak the audio profile in the hearing/accessibility settings
I'd imagine the only thing different with the Jabra is that they're selling it as a medical device

I've never listened to a real hearing aid but the passthough/transparency modes are really weird. They play back sound at the same level no matter how quiet/far away it was so you hear Dave from the other side of the office at the same level as the person next to you.

I had no idea about transparency mode! Does that mean all the kids I see with headphones in whilst engaging with family members weren't just guessing what people were saying to them and might actually have been able to hear reasonably normally? I always wondered what was going on there...

My new cheap Anker ones have a transparency mode, walking through some woods I could hear wind and a plane that seemed really close but I couldn't see it or figure out direction, took them out and there was a hint of a plane sound but weird that they really picked up on it.

I have a tape with a recording the National Trust did with my grandmother. I no longer have a tape player, so does anyone have a recommendation for a company that will convert it to digital?
-
• #114583
no they just aren't listening to any music

I've been through 3/4 Tickr units, they all failed for various reasons including one sounding like the above. Polar H9/10 from now on, been great. Sorry that's probably not a lot of help!
Edit what @timmah! said

Anyone used something different to electrical tape to cover up logos/decals on their bike? I would like to cover some quite big logos and after something as thin as possible (it's purely aesthetic not for frame protection)

I have some low-tack tape that I use for covering the valve hole in my disc and various packaging where I want easy release and zero residue, it would probably work for your use case. Although it's called low-tack, it's pretty robust as long as the surface is clean and you don't dent the edges when you lay it down. I can look up exactly which one I'm using* when I get home, but Google search term is low tack glazing tape, glazing is key otherwise you just get pages of blue painters' tape 🙂

Any recommended bike fit people in Lincolnshire? Gift for my dad's birthday as he's looking at getting his first dropbar bike in 20 years.

Tape as in bog standard cassette? If so I should be able to sort that out for you if you wanted to pop over? Shoot me a message if that'd work.

Thanks, exactly that, so will slide into your DMs.

This is perfect (it's like you knew I had a gloss black Cervelo), thank you.
I think it's probably worth sharing the before and after, which I will do..

New iPhone, how do I get the photos from the old phone on this one? The old photos are all on iCloud.
-
• #114592
When you turn the new iPhone on for the first time, it’ll ask you if you want to do a direct transfer from your old phone wirelessly. You press some buttons and scan the screen with the camera etc. It then transfers all your settings, photos and music over.

Yeah it was crashing and I had to do a manual set up. Now not sure what to do!
Edit: Ah, I think it was doing it silently in the background. Och well!
-
• #114594
You should be able to log into iTunes, do a manual backup on the hard drive and then ‘restore from backup’ onto the new iPhone.
Edit: all ok then?
-
• #114595
Yeah, after ages of head scratching I wonder if it was just waiting to be plugged in to make the transfer.

I'm looking for coaching insurance outside of BC membership. Best options?
-
• #114597
Actually just came here with a very similar question.
Who should I be looking at for third party cycling insurance (commuting and leisure) and preferably (not essential) some sort of access to lawyers for if I'm trying to claim against somebody.
It's not covered by my home insurance.

• #114598
I get that through LCC membership

Yellow jersey maybe. I only used them for travel and race abroad

Do website owners resent being told about spelling mistakes? I see so many...
Oh great
