Skated the other night for the first time in a couple of weeks and it took me ages to warm up. Skated very briefly this morning and seem to have blown my knee out in some way - big lump of fluid on it now and it feels super janky.
Don’t start skating at 40, kids! :-D

Love Tom Penny, but I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to rekindle my fondness for phat skate shoes :-D

The Tyshawn Thrasher cover pic may be the greatest skateboarding photo of all time.

Trick is absurd but the photo is too much national geographic style for me

I had a (very rare) weekend away with a couple of mates. Went to the coast and all took our boards. Decided to hit up Seaton skatepark on Saturday morning and were rewarded with a sunny morning and empty skatepark for the 3 hours we were there!
Really fun park (it’s a Maverick build, which tend to be fairly reliably decent).
Lyme Regis park on Sunday morning was fun too, though My legs were letting me know about it by then.

Surfskate curious here - not curious enough i'll spend £200+ on a complete though, anyone tried any of the Carver / Yow clone trucks or adapters from Aliexpress etc?
Got a spare longboard deck & some other other bits too - interested to see what all the fuss is about...

Saw this on YouTube and was suitably impressed.

But didn’t realise how much was going on until I watched this reaction video

I still don’t understand half of the terminology, but the awe/amazement of these guys made what I’d taken for granted (as the tricks were landed) make a bigger impression as I watched it with them - also the fact that they slo mo the tricks which focuses the attention on how much has gone into a man jumping onto and off a rail that he slides down..

Not sure if this should go in the hip hop thread or here. Or both.

With you on Nyjah. I find him pretty uninspiring to watch, partly because I’m not that in to his clean, techy style and also for reasons you mentioned. It’s not what I like about skateboarding. Not in a gatekeeper-ey, wanting it to be underground way - the opposite really: I’ve always loved skateboarding at a grassroots level. Local shops, local companies, parks run as social enterprises, all that.

What the hell did I just watch? Proper mindbending stuff there. Kind of wish it wasnt filmed like a rollersnakes video from 1995, tho.
