This place has changed. I liked it when I got called a cunt for having a 5mm spacer under my stem.

Slowly getting there with my kitchen and bathroom.
My builder quoted 3 weeks for the job. He went on holiday halfway through week 2 for a week (must have been booked after agreeing the job). Today is the end of week 4, and they hope to be done Sunday. Been paying in stages. Means I've had another week not at home and the associated costs of that (albeit not too much but that is lucky).
Builder agreed room dimensions with me, got kitchen built to that, and it turned out too big so had to trim the room down before building it and swap a couple of units. So i now can't have a separate bathroom and utility. And it is also the reason the kitchen sink has a dogleg in it.
Also the 2 sockets for behind the hob wall and now going in the cabinets - apparently the walls (180 ish years old) are too shit. I'd rather them be in the wall than cut into my new cabinets (££££) but I didn't really challenge it at the time.

Also looking at this second pic - that stud wall needs to have a cutout in for shampoo and stuff. Reminded builder of that today. Not sure how he's going to do that now

Amazing windows.
Shame about the builder by the sounds of it.

Cheers. Nothing beats the lounge windows though now they've been fixed up

Was the building anything in particular? Chapel or school or something? Apols if already mentioned.

Presumably it’ll be tiled so they’ll be able to cut a hole in the plaster and make up a box no problem as any rough edges won’t matter.

Just a f**k off house now carved into flats

• #4389
Yeah will be. Theoretically done on Sunday so we'll see

That window is amazing. Seriously envious.

@bobble it’s looking really good. Certainly over the worst of it by the looks of things.
Where does your washing machine go in your new kitchen? Is it same as previous? Just looks like a small space/aperture for a washing machine (might just be photos)
And, is there a gap between the worktop edging and the window? I ask this as that setup is quite common in Glasgow tenement flats (worktop higher than base of window) and you’d be surprised how much stuff you can lose in a small gap.

We're doing our drive and front garden.
My OH has sorted out the landscaper and layout. I want lights so need to sort out the electrician.
Main aims of lighting are; 1. Visibly differente our drive from the parking area outside to stop people blocking us, 2. Help see in the dark.
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations on what type of lighting to use?
A lot of the other outdoor lights I'm finding are either a bit Essex or ye olde.
I'm thinking drive over lights as marked in purple and then some sort of light by the front door.
Cost is a factor so don't want to go too mental. Also considering these wall lights as there is a brick wall that's ours on the left
But feel like that will be a lot more work. The green areas will be planted so I'm also wondering about having the ability to light those. Haven't decided on plants, but thinking grass and fragrant herbs - anything that can take a battering.
Has anyone here lit plants? Is it something I could get wiring provided for then do later once plants and a bit more budget is available?
Cheers

For the threads info quotes have been ~£4k-10k.
The cheapest not including electrics.

Who can see the issue with this herringbone pattern and the reason the guy fitting them made a noise that cause me to think he'd cut his hand off when he realised?

Yeah, I can see how he did it. The two whole tiles bottom left in contact with the floor, one ridged, one flat. Should have been two ridged to twist the whole pattern anti-clockwise. He's been a lot more cautious since. I don't envy him and am happy with their work so saw the funny side. He has to go around two niches (for shampoo bottles and stuff) on the shower wall.

They go across the floor to the edge of the shower tray. Will be topped with brass edging.

Walls above the tiles on the left of the room will be one of those yellows as there are yellow flakes in the tiles, apparently...
Black is a bit 2018 and never looks clean.
Brushed is nasty to touch.
