I've recently discovered The War of the Worlds which is not, as the title suggests, about the daily drama of life in a rural Garden Centre but actually about an alien invasion. It's made by Canal+ so some of the characters talk funny though there are words at the bottom of the screen so normal people can keep up. It's not bad, started well but I'm on episode 5 of the first series and it's beginning to wobble. And I do like it being a European alien invasion with no reference at all to the US. I've a feeling it will run in to the usual 'how is everyone still manging to wash their hair and look so healthy' problem of many post-apocalypse pieces.
I saw that Gabriel Byrne being apprehended by plucky armed survivors outside London's famous Tate Britain, a couple of years back. He did look slightly disheveled in my opinion. My Mum was quite annoyed to have missed him.
