Both. You decide which in real time. Our boiler does a scheduled heat every evening but we could do it with the immersion coil if we wanted to burn money.
Look up megaflow.

Also interesting, I'd never thought of that. I was planning to get a megaflow here for future onsen 2.0 fun but this is all the more reason, especially as there's some community solar panel project thing a few streets away which is eventually supposed to be coming to our street.

Are the tanks heated with an immersion or just use the combi and store it? Anyone got a link to the type of thing?
