As long as you're not doing loads of dirt jumps badly, ain't nothing wrong with a decent square taper!

looks ace tbqh,
carbon steerer? hoping you got a long bung in there knowing your habbit to break stuff
-
• #105
If the caliper isn't sitting straight then I would assume the brake mounts are not faced correct?
-
• #106
not the caliper itself exactly, rather the piston holding the frame side pad. the pad on the other side is totally fine.
its as if the pad was toed in. -

Square tapers rule. They last the longest as well.
I used to abuse the hell out of square tapers.
Funnily enough I have bent more HT cranks then ever. But that's crank arms bending not axles. -

Until they start to have a tiny bit of play in them
-

That's them freeing up and getting faster. Even when they start to wobble they still have a good 6 years left in them. I should note this is my experience with UN52/54.

Don't see any hello kitty stickers on this bike.

Looking for a few of bits if anyone wants to help me part with my meager earnings:
- TRP Spyre flatmount caliper - Just one for the rear
- Front Thru-Axle dynamo wheel - SP or SON. Centre-Lock. Tubeless compatible rim. Black rim.
- Hope, Middleburn, White Industries, etc... single crankset - 165 or 170.
- TRP Spyre flatmount caliper - Just one for the rear

Can't figure out why the drive train is feeling a bit grumbly and loud which is quite frustrating me.
Few things left before this is properly rideable:- Chop Steerer
- Replace Rear Brake Caliper
- Figure out why the drivetrain feels trash
- Maybe 80mm Stem
Then onto putting a dynamo on it, then sorting out bags.
I've been dreaming about a long trip through Italy in spring next year for a while now as I'm totally burned out in my life otherwise, so everything is focused around getting ready for that. If anyone has tips/annecdotes about planning and executing a trip like that I'd love to hear them.

You had the whole of lfgss standing up at planning, going back to #screenlife at executing

If you are doing a gravely one (read nice bridle way) up to Cambridge do tell what route you take, have been meaning to sort out the gravely bike for such a route

Just needs a King Cage dropper cage
-
• #122
Yep - and the 3rd cage needs to be a real king cage, not a condor alloy one. It's so trash and barely holds the bottle in.
-
• #123
wow thanks for making me aware of their existence! i see i now need to spend £40 on bottle cages, great.
Nice bike btw @samrensho
