One for the history books this morning. Nearly side swiped twice by non mirror looking drivers and almost got a drivers door to the face all within 5 mins of my ride in.
Then, slightly later, was absolutely OTT raged at by a taxi driver for not cycling in a cycling (??). Apparently its harder for drivers to focus on the road when there are cyclist riding on it, or some BS drivel that came out of his mouth. I asked him to cheer up considering it was Monday morning. He didn't like that.

Since lockdown I’ve been working 8-4. Today I had to work til six due to someone going home sick, so my commute home was two hours later than usual. Fuck me, bloody cyclists all over the shop. So many nodders on the cycle routes, I was hovering over the brake levers all the time. Turns out I’ve forgotten how quiet in comparison it is at 4pm.

I always forget that the onset of autumn heralds the Season of the Immense Headwinds. Spinning along the flat with great effort at about 10mph.

onset of autumn
The price we pay for the beauty. Falling leaves, conkers, beautiful sunrises etc.

A falling leaf hit me in the face today.
But crucially no tall dutchmen on eMoofs tried to cause an accident to make a point... so swings and roundabouts eh.
Really enjoyed today's ride in, maybe it was the smugness gained knowing I was unaffected by train chaos.

I wore a second layer, was far too warm. Greenwich to Surrey Quays better now with cycle lane open, hadn't ridden in a while.

very warm today!
Saw quite a few people all geared up, lycra, bibs etc but no helmet? Ive never understood that.

Travelling through Brixton by any chance?
-
• #30415
no - but just up from brixton on Embankment - are you said gentleman or have you had a run in with said gentleman?
If it's the former, maybe forum beef could be on the cards. I'll dig out the fixeh.

I had a run in with someone matching that description a few weeks back heading up Brixton Hill. Barging up ringing his bell as we were slowing for the lights because he felt I had closed his gap. Then side swiped another cyclist who was "too far out".

Bloody hell. Same chopper. Fairly tall, glasses, dressed head to toe in black?
Came up the inside of me in the segregated section. I'd drifted very slowly across to the middle lane because it was obvious the cyclist ahead of me was about to turn slow / turn left. He aggressively rang his bell, then barged through a gap not even a seasoned CX racer would take - when I caught him his whattaboutery was 'you'd have looked if you were in a car not pulled out', squarely missing the point that in a car that would have been an accident with him at fault [even if looking was the issue]. Then proceeded to jump a few lights, cut up two cyclists before I lost him...
Credit to him, unreal self confidence / belief in his righteousness. I was a bit taken aback by his insistence it was my fault.

I have come across this chap on a couple of occasions on my way in through Brixton-oval-elephant.
Not been on the receiving end myself, but have witnessed terrible cycling by him. A nasty undertake of someone prompted me to mutter that If I caught him at the next lights I'd point out how dangerous and c*ntish it is.
I didn't catch him and hope never to see him again.

Lovely morning for a commute until I came across some chopper who insisted on either jumping red lights or pushing to the front and then wobbling all over the place in everyone's way as he struggled to clip into his Look Keo's.
I finally lost patience in Southwark as he jumped another red light and cut up a jogger / pedestrian crossing the road and I shouted 'Dickhead!' at him as the jogger gave him some similar abuse .
Oh well, it made a couple of the riders near me laugh.

What does it do around the gyratory system from Maccy D's onwards? I should go and investimigate

It kind of does fuck all there until it joins the other nice section next to Southwark park.
This map is pretty up to date:

Going into town you have to join the road at some traffic lights and then go around as usual passing the Lidl and stuff.
-
• #30423
Yeah they said fuck it and left everyone to fend for themselves at that bit.
The rest is nice though -

Sounds incredibly similar, yes. Tall, glasses, RLJ and unwavering self belief. I've only encountered the clown once thankfully. From my experience, I wouldn't waste your breath trying to reason with the guy as to why his riding style is so dangerous and inappropriate.

...the unwavering self belief is fascinating though! How can we study this human!
It's a magnet for jealousy. And lot of people out there haven't accepted Jesus into their hearts so some of it is confused sinners crying out for the US of A
