  • So very roughly you're looking at about £150 a month for both?

  • That sounds low, even with the increase you're looking at about £3 a day? I'm asking cos I now have a smart meter and today for example it was about £3 when I've just been home by myself using my laptop and with the heating on for about half an hour

  • We're careful with usage I suppose. IHD is currently at £10.30 so far for the week

  • Similarish (Victorian end of terrace) and we're currently looking at £3.50 elec and £1 gas (Inc standing charge). This is without any heating on and a small child (so dishwasher on 30b minute cycle and some laundry most days).

We had the heating on last Friday (so I think old tariff) for 4 hours and gas jumped to £2.80.

  • Checked my smart meter this morning, it was at £1.8 by 7.30. Turns out the heating has been coming on at 5am. My wireless thermostat seems to randomly reset itself then turn on the heating to 21.5c

  • Least the house is warm I guess

  • Does £645 seem a reasonable cost for a RICS home survey level 3?

  • So cute.
Don't tell the dog I said that about the head.

  • The osmo matt finish oil is the winner - we have engineered oak and the orange fade isn’t an issue (also don’t scrub it with aggressive chemicals!)

  • osmo matt finish oil

Thanks for the tip (although ruddy hell that stuff is expensive)

  • I just paid £780 for a level 2

  • ^as above, also paid a bit more for a level 2 a year or so back

  • Very much so. but (begrudgingly) it's really worth it.

If you want images drop me a DM - I redid our kitchen floor at the weekend after abusing it for a few years & used their exterior stuff on our front door...

    #notsponsored(sadly)

  • It’s the stuff. Anything else isn’t the stuff. Pay the monies.

  • I paid similar for that.

  • Small terrace. Currently 150 a month because summer. Was 250 in winter. Will be around 300-400 (maybe more) this winter (already been told our increase is sub 30%).

  • Do folks have normal shower in lofts or power shower electric things? Don’t like the later.
    Combi boiler fwiw.

  • We're fitting a normal shower, but have a pressurised system.

  • A combi is a sealed system too so you’ll get the same pressure everywhere. Power showers are for ye olde colde water tank in the loft systems.

  • I had normal shower and combi boiler. Decent pressure but you couldn't really run that and the main bathroom shower at the same time.

  • Great info. Thanks all x

  • I’m deeply suspicious of combis in houses when not attached to an unvented cylinder of some sort.

  • I want to put an electric shower in one of the loft conversion bathrooms to be independent of the combi. Are the the 10+ kW ones any good? Going from one bathroom to three and dont want a huge combi or additional cylinder ideally.

  • I don’t mind an electric shower at all. A 10kW one should serve the hottest of appetites. 8 or 9 is enough for most people. Chat to your electrician early about the power you want as you’ll need some bad man spec cabling.
