NASA is a US Gov't Agency and they have special rules about how their IP is handled. Basically, public money is spent so the public own it.

If you can get to Stamford, I've used here before for a 1960's Oris. -

Interesting watch... Looks like an Oakley Time Tank.... 2006... I doubt it would fit my dainty wrists, both of them, at the same time.

The only thing you can not do is call it a collaboration with NASA, Xeric x NASA etc.

Queue outside the Frankfurt branch of Swatch today- presumably waiting for it to open, and (further assumption) because of Moon Swatches.

Where do folk on here get their 'vintage' Rolex serviced? my dad has given me his 1603 DJ and called yesterday to ask that I get Rolex to service it. The quotes I got pre pandemic were eye-watering but he is convinced that taking it direct to Rolex is the way to go... any advice greatly appreciated...
For some further info he bought the watch in 1973, he wore it daily for a few months a year (working off-shore) then got a swatch in the 80s and put it back in it's box. He has never had it serviced. I was given it to look after a few years ago and it wasn't running but I asked a local shop to take a look and they sent it to Rolex who provided a quote to service. The quote was more than I could afford so I asked for it back and it was returned in working order! result... however a few months later it stopped again... I had another watchmaker look at it who told me it needs a new crown tube and a new rotor (+bits I can't recall)... I would also like to get the bracelet serviced as it's a bit jangly... my dad is convinced that he should have got it on the Jubilee so I'm also keeping an eye out but these of the correct era seem to go for £850+ which I don't have... what to do, what to do?

They do a lot of other limited edition stuff. There was a big queue outside the Covent Garden one the other day that, from what I could tell, was for the Dragonball Z swatches.

Loving that flat grey dial!
I’m about to send my dad’s GMT to Swiss Time Services as it’s power reserve has disappeared. Last official Rolex service was £1K, fuck that shit.

Also STS will, I assume, respect an instruction not to polish the case, whereas Rolex apparently do it whether you ask them to or not.
I am a fan of those grey DJ dials.

Yesterday was the 60th anniversary of the first Omega going into space, on the wrist of Walter Schirra. Was coincidentally wearing this but neglected to take a photo as I didn’t realise until today.

It's a military thing, less chance of being seen due to reflection and being able to see the time while handling a gun.
For suits it's usually to signify that they're ex-military.

My choirmaster used to wear his like that so he could subtly check the time while conducting (e.g. if the priest was late)

My friend and I popped by the Covent Garden store last weekend in the late afternoon. We both just wanted to take a look at the moonswatches, with no intention of buying. We stood by the exhibition box discussing the various colours for less than 15 seconds and the security walked up to us with arms making a cross and yelled "SOLD OUT. SOLD OUT." We felt intimidated and left immediately. If they don't want customers to even look at their watches on display, they might as well put them away.
Rant over.

He's probably been working at Rolex ADs for the last couple of years
Popped into the Apple shop, huge scrum by the watches, but saw a nice shiny black case (which I like because it looks (when the screen is black) like it's one material.
Looking on the Apple online shop and I'm buggered if I can work out which case finish it is - they all look matt in the pictures.
What should I be looking for?
