I've not raced HM distance for many years but have 19yrs in the game & hold a UKA coaching badge although I'm not actively coaching.
Recent years focus on 5km & Ultras (poles apart I know) here's my recent years 5km's best as indication of pace 🤷♂️ yes, I'm getting slower as we all will eventually.

On that trajectory I'll be happy to race you sometime in 2030.

I swear by Helle Hansen glove liners. I suffer Reynaud's Syndrome and when it's really cold they work well inside proper gloves, but for normal people are nice and toasty on their own just when it's turning.

Another vote for decathlon glove liners here.
I got caught short while on a mountaineering trip recently and had no choice but to spend 30 euros on some Hestra liners and it still stings. Decathlon glove liners are cheap, last forever if you look after them, and are just as warm as others.
Perfect for chilly runs. I use mine all winter but I tend to run hot.

@zazkar I’ve not really looked at the volume side of things (I don’t know how much you are used to or how much you can handle), but if it were me I’d keep most of my runs as a mix of recovery /long run pace runs (as is currently in your plan). But I’d drop the hill reps and instead add in some strides. Week 1 would be all recovery runs, week 2 would be as in your plan but during 2 of the runs I would add maybe 6*20 second accelerations.
During week 3(taper) I would add in one set of accelerations somewhere in the mid week. -

Personally I’d take 2 days easy then train per the plan for 2 weeks, then come race day I’d take 5 seconds per km off your pace from Ealing and head out at that, 5 minutes is a big leap, little by little is the best approach especially with only a few weeks between the races.

London marathon registration done, pretty subdued expo compared to my last one in 2018, although the Abbott world majors and new balance areas were pretty cool!
Number 36147 if anyone wants to track me!

Thanks again all who provided opinion on how I might shave 5 mins off my last 1.40 half, in three weeks, in the name of sibling rivalry.
Have taken it all on board, and did a 4 mile tester last night, and am now of the mindset, fuck it, I’ll just try and run really fast on the day! Until match day (October 16th) it’s all about going out and pushing, if I feel I can push.
Am old enough and stupid enough now to know my limits / capabilities. And reckon there’s a lot to be said for going on gut. Will drink less, bike more and stretch (I hate stretching) and rest a couple of days before Bath, and it’s mine to lose. Maybe. Anything can happen on the day. It’ll be a day for the neutrals that’s for sure.

Any recommendation for ‘plush’ trail shoes.. I don’t need very aggressive tread but I’m looking for comfort.

Good luck!
I still haven't adjusted to it now being in October rather than April. -

They left that late.

Brooks cascadia maybe? (I had a pair a few years back - basically ghosts with tread)
Innov8 do the parkrun shoe, can’t remember the name, but looks a good balance for road to trail type stuff too

My longest run for a number of years yesterday evening.
Completely overshot a half marathon distance and ended up with around 27km. Garmin GPS fuck up missed the first 1 and a bit km.
Got absolutely soaked about 5km in at the peak of Allermuir Hill. I was tempted to turn around there, but persisted. Running in the rain is always more enjoyable once you're wet.
My knee that's waiting on ACL reconstruction is feeling a bit stiff, but otherwise legs feel fresh this morning.

Hope it's going well today. Tracking is via installing an app only, not via browser so i look forward to checking results later when published.

I ran a 3.29 virtual marathon today with a solid training block of drinking, big Macs and a few roll ups every now and again.
Running training wasn't great, but that's in my top 15 fastest marathons.
If anyone knows Orient Way in Leyton, it was up and down there 26 times
