Bonne route!

(I'm mainly looking forward to the bitching on Twitter though).

I'm wondering if my hands will function long enough to be able to use a phone.

Not fully packed for the ride yet but the bike works.

• #8
what a view, good luck :)

Thanks. I'll need it.
-3C in Nuria this morning.
No doubt I'll do my usual trick and end up there in the middle of the night, with no food or water and think "you know what, going over the mountain now seems like a good idea". :D

Was just wondering if its still comfortably warm down there. Guess that's a no.
All the best to riders and organiser!

Get ready for the podium.

Depends . Núria is 2000m, the highest peak is 2750m. Down in Griona days are just perfect and nights cool.
If you run it much earlier the lower altitude are sweltering.

Tracker collected. Trying to finish packing the bike.

It's 20kg at the moment and I haven't finished packing it yet. It will also have another ~2.5L of water on it, so we're looking at a #weightweenieheartattack of 23-24kg. Then the fat fuck goes on top and he's also got a Camelbak of food and another 2.5L of water. #oof

Honestly not much experience with riding in the south, but a bit of cold is probably preferable to half of the riders having heatstroke.
And looks like a crazy/good route, tempted to finally visit Girona early next year!

Yes it is. And it's some fun jeopardy.
If you come bring a hardtail or ATB. The best riding is off road. The road riding is dull.

I didn't think I'd ever think "you know what, I've packed too much food" but you know what? I think I've packed too much food.

• #18
Swap out some food for more beer?
-
• #19
I haven't even packed the beer yet! OMG

25.4kg with the water in. The zips still close so it's fine, right?
-
• #21
Plus 1kg of Haribo right?
-
• #22
Surely the water will leak from the zips?
-
• #23
There's definitely a few bags of Haribo. Good knows what else.
-
• #24
Water?

Starts 02.10.2022
L’esperit de Girona is an 800km 27,500m solo and unsupported off-road bikepacking event in Catalunya, Spain. 2022 will be it’s inaugural edition with 20 riders. While the route starts and finishes in the roadie’s favorite city of Girona, the route soon diverges from the popular and mundane to the rough and beautiful tracks of the Catalan countryside. From the short punchy climbs of Les Gavarres on the Costa Brava, around the rock faces and forests of Les Guilleries, up to the high Pyrenees at 2,700m and back through the extinct volcanos of Garrotxa. For the trusting and intrepid souls that have entered the inaugural event they are sure to be the envy of all, enjoying some of the toughest and most wonderful bikepacking on offer.
