  • Just plug the MBP into another port and switch using the monitor input button?

Or buy a KVM switch if you want peripherals to switch too.

  • Genius!

Is there an app or something to do the same for magic keyboard and mouse? (switch between the 2 machines)

  • Depends what you have. Think Logitech can auto switch with some models.

Assume they’re both wireless devices? They should have the ability to connect to more than one device and switch with a button.

If not, you could use the monitor USB ports which sometimes act as a KM switch themselves.

It really depends on how often you think you’ll be switching.

  • If you plug the keyboard into a usb port of the machine you’re switching to with the lightning cable it quickly links. Not pretty but it’s the solution I’ve used. Can’t speak for the mouse though, never used one

  • If both machines are on simultaneously you could likely just use Universal Control and bounce your mouse between them with no hideous cable management required, but I know living in chaos brings you secret joy.
