  • Dan Hodges particularly scathing. Which is funny to see

  • It's weird. It's like a little lightbulb has come on in his head.

  • Or his social media person has turned.

  • So - they are going with doubling down and sticking together. After the disastrous interview round and the likely further worsening of economic indicators, how long before knives come out? Presumably tories will want to see how the conference goes (narrator: It'll be fucking awful). Already sounds like a number of anti-Truss MPs won't be there. I really hope there are discussions behind the scenes as to how to get rid, though they will obviously want to avoid an election.

  • Guess the whole point of Truss, even in the rightest reaches of the party's view, was to give a 'clean slate' bounce after the mess of Boris. 'Fresh' face, but continuity of (hand in the cookie jar) policies. Took her team only a week to cancel that out and land them back to square one of the public confidence mess they were in: Pincher etc. Essentially leaderless.

  • bah, like you'll have any money for fun toys, just pray you're not using your floorboards for firewood this winter.

  • I think the local radio slots were booked for build up for conference stuff but the whole tanking the UK economy and shafting the public got in the way a little bit

  • There's that scene in Shallow Grave

David Stephens: You paid 500 pounds for this?

Juliet Miller: That's what it cost, David.

David Stephens: No, no, that's what you paid for it. 500 pounds is what you paid for it. We don't know how much it cost us yet. For you two to have a good time, we don't know the cost of that yet.

  • More likely he wants Boris back.

  • Just started listening to 'The Rest is Politics' podcast, good discussion on UK politics.

It's here that I first saw Kamakwasi - brilliant.

  • I was photographing an event Kwarteng was speaking at last year. In a Q&A some bloke asking a question mentioned that a certain government policy had a number of failings. Kwarteng's reply was to say "What do you mean by 'a number of failings'? That's a rather opaque phrase" The bloke then clearly articulated two or three specific failings in reasonable detail. The respone Kwarteng gave was to huff a little and say "Look, I'm not going to relitigate the past" and that was it. Barely a shred of substance in the cabinet right now, just a couple of stock phrases poured into various suits.

  • Probably late to this but traders calling the GBP the new Shitcoin
    It’s not good is it

  • Just bringing this over to the new page as it deserves to live a little longer…

"Liz Truss's Director of Communications, Jason Stein, used to work as Communications Adviser for Prince Andrew until the Maitlis interview"

  • The maximum value of the intervention being the size of the pay day loan you took out.

And if the pay day loan was 10 grand you are actually being quite prudent if you manage to only blow 3,5 grand of that money on your next synth.

  • Good stuff in here from former Tory MP now planning to vote Labour.

The UK is beginning to discover what it is like to be led by people who despise compromise and lack all humility.

  • Ha! to be fair he resigned because he was ignored when he said "don't fucking do it!" but ultimately his job was to cover for the non-sweaty nonce

  • Ha! I thought you were supposed to learn from your mistakes?

  • I hope all contributors have emailed their dismay to their Tory MPs, where applicable.

  • RIP Coolio

Inept, arrogant and out of touch. It's like Tory bingo.

  • They're still pissed that everyone has hated them since 2008.

  • We've been sacrificing the economy to the housing market since the beginning of QE.

  • Rishi Sunak isn't going to the party conference. He'll be walking in Yorkshire. One of his allies said he wanted to give Liz Truss all the space she needs to own the moment. ...This is from here

  • How does someone on £30,000 buy a house in London?
