  • I would think that most buyers have spent x amount of time looking and once decided to buy, won't piss about for the sake of pennies compared to the whole deal.

  • As you say, that argument applies to both sides. But as a seller I wouldn’t blow up a deal for pennies because I suspect you’d get 5-10% less if you remarketed the property right now.

    I think the strategy has to be to say “no” initially but give in if they push it. No point getting emotional about it.

  • Yeah, we did the same thing with ours regarding a boiler. Pushed it a bit and then gave up on it because I wasn't about to restart the whole process over £1k. I'd definitely give it a go though because paying for stuff when you don't own the building is a bit different to asking for discount for something broken or whatever.
