• Maybe not exactly the right thread, but, I picked up some Q acoustics ceiling speakers cos they were cheap and I wanted music in the kitchen and they sound pretty good, but the sound travels a lot upstairs (bare floorboards at the minute which isn’t helping). Is there a good reason NOT to fit some kind of ICE soundproofing stuff in the gap around them?

  • The downstairs neigbour in our old place fitted a ceiling speaker directly under our bed 😑

  • No expert or anything, but I'm sure when I was looking into this for my bathroom a while back you get little pot things to go over the backs to help project sound down.

Idk if that's the same for all, or if there is some sort of design aspect to it depending on the speaker/other factors.

Personally I'd be tempted to make mdf cabinets to go over then put sound proofing/ deading material around the outside of the box.
