Yeah? What's the going rate for renting a PlayStation? 🤪
Saw the video for the PSV2 headset, looks dope.

I used to cycle 20-odd miles to rent Atari 2600 carts from the video shop.

The website 'fatlama' is a place you can't rent peoples stuff - looks like there's a fair amount of VR stuff on there... quite pricey though!
I've never used the site before but seems fairly sensible?

Good shout. Thanks, I know the site, sometime use it to rent photo kit.

Forum VR kit buy?
I wanna play Alyx too

Tell me how it goes. I really want to play Alyx. Was even thinking of doing the non VR mod

Getting quite into Deathloop after understanding how the whole game works a bit more. Nail guns are rather satisfying

I spent a lazy day off with it yesterday, good fun.

Anyone got an old GPU they want rid of? GTX 1060 stuff ideally.

If at all serious... On the plus side, the game is a couple of years old and the hardware it was designed to show off isn't cutting edge any more. The various headsets that are good enough to enjoy the game in all have detachable, washable, replaceable padding and that would be a must because headsets can get sweaty. People might want to get their own inserts , because most of them come by default with cheaper foam inserts that soak up sweat and never really wash clean.
You'd also want to consider how adjustable the headset is for things like inter-pupil distance and for adjusting the distance of the lenses from the eye to cater for long-sightedness, astigmatism and glasses. The HTC kit is the best for that but also the most expensive.
Of course it's a great way to share COVID among friends.

I'm sure between users the issues you mentioned don't seem major.
Sterilisation deals with the Covid and other infections risks.
Replacement padding is already a thing as you say
The individual eye/visual setting must be adjustable as standard
I'd be up for it
Alyx is the only game on my VR radar however old.Half life 1 was a formative game for me and all its iterations
Well Rez VR may be one to experience too

If you are, I would be willing to lend a very VR-capable gaming laptop to the project for a while. The advantage there would be that the software set-up and hardware pairing would all be done and the current user of the set-up would only have to place the base stations and do room set-up. Also the technical problems (there always are, because the whole hardware/software setup is more complex than a normal gaming platform) would be known. I know it works well with VR because I used it for that before building a gaming PC.
So if you can recruit others and source the VR hardware, that's there. Might want to actually make use of the VR Games thread I started for not drowning this thread with discussion of a niche interest.

Stadia was DOA in my opinion but Google have finally killed it.
At least everyone who bought anything gets full refunds.

Anybody after a disc edition ps5 before I fuck around with eBay? Boxed, controller, media remote.
-
• #27368
I'm going to slowly raise my hand.
Was going to go no disc this time round, since there's no backwards disc compatibility this gen, and to be honest haven't been looking so don't know what availability is saying, but might be tempted to get the disc editon.
What are you asking for it?
-
• #27369
no backwards disc compatibility
Definitely plays PS4 stuff. Digital edition is slightly more widely available now if that is your leaning, but disc is still rocking horse poop.
Quick look at eBay sold items suggests ~£600-650 is current going rate, £595 at CEX when they have stock but I'd readily do a sensible price on the forum. £470?

I got that email too. Fairly happy with that as I bought the stadia mainly to get the google tv dongle and then never got round to trying stadia.

To confirm, I've played PS4 disc versions of Horzion ZD, Last of Us Pt2 and GT Sport on the PS5 just fine.
-
• #27372
Almost all PS4 content is compatible on the PS5 (physical and digital)

Finally finished CP2077. Ending actually hit me in the feels, actually thinking about some of the characters etc when zoning out on the train.
Gonna replay the final mission with a few other choices to get the 'better' ending to put myself at piece.
Solid game, 8/10 I'd say if you play it as a story RPG rather than GTA mayhem.

Interesting to hear. That game had a dodgy launch nearly on a No Man's Sky level.

It's well patched now though I'm struggling to engage
I remember renting a VCR and The Crow on my mates 13th birthday, from BlockBuster video.
