I have a pair and really like them, I only really use them to run slowly with my dog, but was perfectly pleased with them for that…
Also nike have ridiculously good returns policy if you buy direct… you can at least take them for a few runs and still return if you don’t like them…

I run in Walsh PB Extremes and XC spikes if it's sloppy. Walsh PBs just got like slippers and I think I've had 4 pairs over 10 years.
Bonus marks given for all the old boys at the running club saying that they used to run in them 30/40 years ago
For me, an off-road shoe has to have almost no looseness in it at all, or my toes get bashed from slipping inside the shoe going down a descent.
There's no cushioning in the sole of the shoe, and pretty minimal drop, but they just seem to work for me.

Those Mizuno Wave look pretty good, will consider them for next time along with Scott trainers.
What's the sizing like on mizuno shoes? Size up/down or spot on?@Sainsburys_Ed yeh I'll probably end up using them. Few folk including yourself seem to rate them.

HRV update, my status is now "unbalanced".

Feel like I have to share my running shoe revelation with altra torin 5s wide fit as a long-time bunion sufferer. The toe box is soo roomy and with toe socks it lets me spread out my toes fully. Tried some Hoka Clifton 8 too (wide fit again), but didn’t have the toe room I need, plus they just felt too clunky on my feet.

A mighty half an hour, then a half hour cool down.

Mizuno fit true to size the Diachis aren't for deep mud but are an excellent tough trail shoe. Their wave rider road shoe was also my longest lasting high mileage road shoe. Mizuno have some great shoes in their range as it's not all about flagship carbon plated super shoes but for some reason they're less popular as a brand than they used to be. Good news for buyers though as they often come up on sale from most of the big online outlets.

Kipchoge, Berlin.. some idle discussion today about if he’s targeting sub 2h .. it does seem that he really has nothing left to prove in Berlin so why would this be on his calendar?

I'll ask him when he's zooming past me tomorrow morning 👍

Anyone got a dodgy feed for the race? Flotrack is too expensive

Here's the official one from the German Sportschau - https://www.sportschau.de/leichtathletik/berlin-marathon-128.html
Maybe finding a free / cheap VPN or webProxy to watch this from where you are is easier than finding a free / cheap dodgy feed?

He must be gutted. How many times can you give it that maximum effort and come that close to a really arbitrary barrier. At the same time it would be his name in history forever and the rest of the field so far behind. Legendary runner.

It'd be a huge leap to sub 2h unpaced. His pace today was under 1.2s per mile quicker than his old pb and he's full gas knife edge of blowing his doors off. Another 2.6s per mile seems barely anything (appx 8s off a parkrun time) but would be a huge leap forward.

1:10 is a huge amount of time and distance, the difference between what was essentially lab conditions vs. here feeding, pace, line were all done for him in Vienna to even having to think of those thing in the real world is huge.
Comparing to me going from running at dorney lake with my own nutrition on course and zero crowds to London, carrying my own gels, crowds/congestion, registration etc it makes my 10s per mile targeted improvement look a bit ambitious! But then I have two more marathon training cycles in the legs, 3kg weight loss and hopefully the aerodynamic benefit of a large group to help!

Had a great run yesterday. Managed a 10k but was running mostly through trails and public footpaths. Wasn't quick but just enjoyable even the bit where the path turned in to bramble / nettle fight.
-
• #27971
Of course it's a big leap but no one's ever been closer and he must be thinking how many more attempts can he make at that pace.
-
• #27972
Well I hope you run well but I assume we'll be seeing you on the 9 o'clock news if you come close to 2:01 :)

Is that Dundas in the first pic?

If he can do 3 more years at 1 min per mile quicker then maybe...

I ran Northern 6 stage today. Tough effort. I'm glad I didn't set off on my leg knowing one of our later runners would be a no-show so we're a dnf on the results.
I'll run my endorphin trails to death over the winter just because i have them now but for £160 there's plenty to complain about yet my more expensive pros are worth every penny. Unless the trails pop up somewhere massively discounted i wouldn't recommend them to anyone at anywhere near rrp. I'm done with Saucony trail shoes now too. I've had better from asics and mizuno for half or less what these cost. I can live with the Nikes soles wearing out because i really enjoy running in them. For durability Mizuno wave Diachis are great I've got a 3 year old pair i just can't kill.
