I run in Walsh PB Extremes and XC spikes if it's sloppy. Walsh PBs just got like slippers and I think I've had 4 pairs over 10 years.
Bonus marks given for all the old boys at the running club saying that they used to run in them 30/40 years ago
For me, an off-road shoe has to have almost no looseness in it at all, or my toes get bashed from slipping inside the shoe going down a descent.
There's no cushioning in the sole of the shoe, and pretty minimal drop, but they just seem to work for me.
