  • It was beautiful but not taking sleep kit was a mistake. We got 8hrs and some naps in the 4 days. I was more fucked than most of the TCRs I've done.

  • What were you doing TNR?

  • I had to do unspeakable things to it to get the front suspension to work again but now it does float over gravel beautifully.

  • Mrs M_V and I rode some gravel on our brommies last week. Stratford and the lakes.

They soaked up most of it pretty well.

I’d thought about doing a 20” conversion on mine t it’s really not needed. Plus the looks you get riding a 16” wheeled bike where everyone else is on full sus E-bikes is pretty amusing.

  • 1st pic, Askham Fell/Helton common. I grew up there, learning to jump my Falcon 26" rigid in all the sink holes. Perfect Brompton territory!

  • Haha, surprised you could identify it from that one photo!

Lovely bit of the country, we were staying at Widewath farm. The brommies were great but I’d love to go back with something else!

  • I know it all too well. There's a great singletrack descent to Howtown from there, perfect XC/Gravel territory. The full sus e-bikes can get in the sea....

  • What is this? Want

  • Liz and I took a spin along by the river today. There were no water skiers, probably because it was pishing it down, on and off. Can you even water ski at 6mph?¿?

  • Is there we come for gravel bike advice? Want steel so am looking at marin Nicasio as a budget option, On One Rujo which looks very well specced for the price, Temple Adventure Disc in yellow or a Surly Straggler is Chlorine Dream if I can find one in my size, as pair with my Steamroller. Opinions welcome.

  • Brother Kepler or Mehteh?

  • Don't know how far this is from you (or if the size is correct) but I saw this for sale last week: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/393847946197493/?hoisted=false&ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post

  • You can ride literally any bike on gravel

I get the impression Temple have come a long way since inception and are a genuine contender it seems (unless anyone has reason to disagree). All City are good but their model lineup is dizzying atm. Personally though, I fancy the Standert Erdgeschoss if money grew on trees. But I guess you can't can't go too wrong with Surly it seems.

  • I do like the look of the Marin, and it is so cheap, but you know you will be swapping parts out left right and centre.

    this is on offer

Found this Straggler on ebay, its in Glasgow and he won't post but I have contqacted him and he can get it to0 Newbury as he works there some time. need some aesthetic tweaks but the parts look great.

There is a Kepler on ebay but well used and seller is asking £1400 for it so a bit much.

  • You can ride literally any bike on gravel

Very true, however I am more looking for a geared bike with plush tyres than specifically something for gravel. A bike that I can chuck about a bit. The only geared bike I have at the moment is a road bike.

I have a mate that works at temtple, have seen the Adventure Disc close up, it is a good frame and well specced.

  • All this by hand atmo

  • What is this? Want

    Custom painted Romanceur.

  • Take my money.

  • I can't believe it didn't come up - just get an Arkose!

Cheap steel bikes aren't fun - IMO save money for Fairlight/Standert/whatever or just get a boring alu bike that will be miles better than any of the above
