To be fair, the hiker in question made their own way back to safety and didn't consider themselves to be in distress and had no idea anybody was looking for him. He thought it was a cold call about insurance iirc. Good headline though I guess.

Wasnt the story that he stayed at a hiker accommodation, told them when to expect him to return, and then got back way past that time?
The hiker was reported missing around 8pm on 18 October after failing
to return to where he was staying, Lake county search and rescue said....
The hiker told authorities he had lost his way around nightfall and
“bounced around on to different trails trying to locate the proper
trailhead” before finally reaching his car the next morning, about 24
hours after setting out on the hike.
