• This should be in DIY really but there’s a design slant so … house exterior refurb hell continues - good progress rebuilding the porch storage box and painting windows . I wasn’t going to touch the porch fascia but I got a bit excitable and have pulled all the cladding and sheathing off it. Trying to figure out a new - upvc free cladding detail given existing constraints , materials to hand or easily accessible yada yada. Thinking some kind of vertical groove biz - alt Idea is galvanised crinkly tin - but it’s a fucker to get hold of without 100 quid delivery

  • Metals4U for corrugated galv sheets cheapest / least delivery I’ve found. Having said that I wouldn’t use it on your place - go with something a bit more 60s appropriate I reckon.

  • Thanks dude - I think they were originally just plain painted softwood fascia or possibly shiplap (as was rest of house before the upvc vandals arrived). I do fancy a contrast to the horizontals of the main facade - so vertical cladding / seams , would like it to be different to the neighbours but not jump out too much. You are right crinkle galvanised would be too much. Probably vertical white tgv would be okay - I’m overthinking it all massively I expect - any fun ideas welcome please
