• This should be in DIY really but there’s a design slant so … house exterior refurb hell continues - good progress rebuilding the porch storage box and painting windows . I wasn’t going to touch the porch fascia but I got a bit excitable and have pulled all the cladding and sheathing off it. Trying to figure out a new - upvc free cladding detail given existing constraints , materials to hand or easily accessible yada yada. Thinking some kind of vertical groove biz - alt Idea is galvanised crinkly tin - but it’s a fucker to get hold of without 100 quid delivery

  • Metals4U for corrugated galv sheets cheapest / least delivery I’ve found. Having said that I wouldn’t use it on your place - go with something a bit more 60s appropriate I reckon.

  • Looking at your pictures I would also suggest that you run that downpipe from the main roof on down to ground level rather than terminating on the porch roof as it does now. You can see all sorts of previous water damage from the roof overflowing in the past. It will be a pain to hide but will work better

  • Love that porch and while I love the wood cladding I can’t help but feel it’s edging towards passé if used wrong. It may work here but also like the corrugated sheet idea, there’s a local loft done on that painted red, wish I could find the pics again it was mint! Maybe in Leyton?
