That's an expensive way to ride couple of laps of a muddy field
-
• #9478
I doubt I'd last even two laps. Sláinte!

Joking aside, I’m really disappointed we’re not getting a WC round in London (especially as the proposed venue is a mile up the road). Let’s hope it can be resurrected for next winter.

Me too but money talks! That light show thingy will bring in lots more money for the park than one day of CX racing

It would be great just to have a round in the UK, especially with how popular cross is right now and the number of elite riders we have.
I'm guessing the cost of the park and staging it in London proved a big factor?

I assume from @leggy_blonde post above that this has more to do with it https://london.lightopiafestival.com/

That explains a lot.....@andyp will be all over that

I went to that last year. Boycotting it now

From what I understand, total cost wasn't the issue per se, but the organiser that was in early talks with the UCI only wanted to use Crystal Palace park. The people who now run the park on behalf of Bromley council are now only interested in maximising revenue. See also the reduction in the the number of Tuesday night crits there- it's all music festivals in summer now.

I rocked up to the Crystal Palace 40+ race, it looks fun!

If it was anything like the v50 race, then I can assure you it was not.
(It was really good course, Brixton CC do a great job of setting it up, but it was hard too).

Cheers Andy, will feed back to Organiser (he's not on here afaik).
Senior Men was brutal, not having the hurdles changed the complection of it on that top straight after the woods.
The acornpocalypse down by dead man's corner was carnage.

I saw Alessandra too but don't know if she's uploaded yet.

Such an amazing course. Perfect start and finish straight with a great mix of speed, varied efforts and tech. It made for some very hard racing though, I vommed after my race- I haven't done that in a while!

Went to watch the 3 peaks cyclocross race at the weekend. What a time! We stood on the out-and-back bridleway up to pen-y-ghent (the last of the 3) watching the chaos unfold as the pointy end of the race came face to face with the less-pointy uphill zig-zaggers. Looked like a seriously tough race for everyone but extra credit for the mad bastard on a Singular fixed gear and the woman on single-speed.
Some pics:(cc @rhb here's the pics I mentioned last night)

How was Canada Heights last week? Some good pics.
-

Very short lap, so lots of congestion in the races with larger fields. There were some good sections on the course, which tested your bike handling tekkers, but it could’ve done with being 2 mins longer per lap to spread things out more.

Is anyone else racing national trophy this Sunday?
Thomas Mein and Witse Meeussen on the men's start list and Anna Kay on the womens
And at the same time, @leggy_blonde gets an Irish passport. Coincidence?
