Looks like you might have trouble in the future bringing your bikes to France is this Spanish behaviour becomes standard. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-62799594.amp

A while back someone mentioned a website that will quote to pick up a car with a failed MOT. I’ve tried to UTFS, but to no avail. Can anyone remember what it was?

Bikes and everything else- if you have a track car on a trailer be prepared to pay 60% of what customs think it’s worth on a Carnet to make sure you don’t sell it, or pay the duty and vat at the border on the estimated profit as these cyclists did.
My parents remember having the serial number of their camera written on a page of their passport when entering France, pre-EU. None of this is new.

It’s not quite that bad (been some time since I had to use carnets so had to look it up) but I’m sure PH are frothing at the flag about it!

Thought it would have gone for more, although the oddity/mix and match factor will definitely reduce the market of buyers.

I had a chat with the seller of one in the streets of Montalcino five years ago. It is the best I have ever spoken Italian. I guess I know all the car words :-D

Fucked around with map 1 on the JB4 (+2 psi over stock) and that was obviously not worth it, so jumped straight to map 4 (sets boost target to 20psi). Driving sensibly, you can't tell any difference to be honest. With it being a 2.0, you can keep up with traffic around town without even really using boost. Onto the M11 and I honestly couldn't feel much difference, it did feel like it pulled through the higher rev range rather than tailing off above 4-5k rpm, and the app confirmed it was boosting to 20psi consistently. On the way home I had one opportunity to go full throttle in 2nd gear through to 4th and it was then it felt noticeably quicker.
I'm a little disappointed that the "butt dyno" isn't reading an extra 70bhp, but I think the Volvo's turbo lag and then big hit has spoiled me for a long time.
If you own a petrol VAG car and fancy some extra power, I would take this feedback as a strong selling point, the JB4 has supposedly added 25% power and maintained OEM feeling/smoothness.

It does make me want a tiny bit more noise, either turbo or exhaust or both. It's amazing what a bit of aural excitement can do to add to the theatre and make the experience more enjoyable without adding any performance.
Driving the MX5 yesterday, the intake noise from the throttle bodies, and the bangs and flames from the exhaust make it seem so much faster and fun, despite being nearly 1/3 of the power.

I'm trying to sell my Clio 182 with the intention of buying a MX5 NA, and fitting throttle bodies. Is yours a 1.6 or 1.8 model?
This limited edition won my heart.

Just listed this for sale as it's not practical to keep storing, it's a shame there are no modern equivalents of a big square estate with sofas in the front and enough load space for every bike I own.

Mine's a 1.8, but it depends on how deep you're planning to go really, an early 1.6 would be very close to a later 1.8, but a later 1.6 is a big step down in power.
That's really nice! Is it a Jenvey kit?
My dream build would be 1.8 VVT swapping an NA, then adding ITBs and nitrous.

The dreaded Facebook marketplace, please don't buy it, if it goes unsold long enough I can probably keep it.

I need to buy a car as a stopgap. Partner has a new car coming early next year. Her current car is due an MOT in November and it won't pass. Any money spent getting it to pass wont be made back when selling it early next year.
So, we'd like to sell/ scrap the current car before it's MOT is due and buy a stopgap car . We will then sell the stopgap car once the new one arrives in a few months .
We need something that will be cheap to buy and insure, and be easy enough to sell on . Something reliable (as reliable as possible for a cheap 2nd hand car ) . Ideally around 2k.
Any particular models is should be looking at? Where should I be looking for private sales ?

I definitely get the vibe that the Volvo’s raw power paired with the lag into big whoosh is going to be hard to replicate. Still listing over them tbh.
Bit mental that you can’t feel 70hp increase. Wonder if it was just making more power than the 270 in the first place?
This is how the camper almost always gets used, wondering if I could fit two of the middle seats back in- might try it.
