Just made up my mind that I'm going to sell my omnium. My 2 year old has decided that grabbing the handlebars whilst we ride is fun...
Going to get something lower down for him. Just need to decide what now

i think they are just saying because of the increased torque from ep8 you can get it going from more of a standstill. makes sense for the emtb use-case

And that's a great point. For a loaded cargo in a city that's such a vital thing.

I've just spent a week with my 2 year old niece. I was absolutely amazed by how unreasonable and intent on hurting themselves they are at that age! What's your current set up? Would a forward facing child seat on the Omnium prevent unwanted bar grabbing?

Talking of children and cargo bikes, I have a 2 month old. Pondering strapping a rear facing car seat to my cargo bike even though it seems over kill. Does anyone have any experience of a cargo bike specific baby seat? Or indeed have one to sell?

I use the Melia toddler seat for my youngest, she was around 7/8 months old when I got my bullitt so I got the 7 month+ model but they do a 2-9 month old version as well.
They're a lot less bulky than a car seat.

Ah that looks perfect, thanks

This guy's giving away a couple of car seats: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/379777/#comment16690539 we've requested the bigger one but the smaller has an insert for stabilising the head which could be good for you. I've no experience with cargo bikes but considering a Bakfiets-type one for our 8 month old hence following what people are saying here. Good luck.

I've got a Maxicosi Pearl 2 on my Bullitt. Fitment is still a work in progress, final version will I think be a later of high density foam and ratchet straps through the base rails.
It is chunky though, so I expect I'll switch out for something more simple when she's older.

I do have one (Melia Toddler Seat) for sale actually, used once for a 9 month old but it was too small for him even at that age. PM me if you'd like it.

Thanks, messaged!

Nice! That’s the kind of thing I was thinking

Stock brakes on Benno boost are good, but if you have some decent hills on your route, try changing the stock shimano resin pads to either EBC red (semi) or full sintered (shimano or EBC, just not those cheap £5 jobs you see online) and stock rotors.
The levers I think are still the older style (work best), the new type with the clamp in the wrong place really don't work with this bike, frustrating Shimano only has legacy support for 'normal' clamp location levers with non servo wave variety.
If you want more after that either go 4 pot + above pads, or go the full 203mm F+RStock resin pads seem to come on all cargo's now, all brands seem to favour them (I guess price and good initial bite?), but as soon as you need to drag brakes with a load on for more than a few hundred meters they start going over.

Yep yep!
Going to stick some different pads in there, 203mm front rotor, will pick up some sort of ice tech rear and then when cash flow allows change the brakes to hopes

Hmm, call me an old synic but I bet those weren't diamond blades
-
• #10094
No, but they were the usual metal cutting blades that go though other d locks in seconds.
-
• #10095
Well, diamond blades are cheap & easily available these days. I'm sure they're the preferred choice

Interesting but I've used one to cut off a neighbours (rather expensive Abus) padlock on his workshop - cut through very easily

How do you store your cargo bikes?
Are there any larger off the peg bike sheds or stores that will fit cargo bikes? I have the space out front but no-one seems to sell longer bike sheds..

I keep mine round the corner in a lockup garage unless I know I'm going to be using it a lot. It's a bit inconvenient though, you can't just load it up and go. Key advantage is out of sight, out of mind.

Back yard, motor cycle cover, locks.
Occasionally out the front with locks if I'm going back out again.
I've slapped some On One OG bars on our fleet of Urban Arrows at work. Super comfy with Ergon grips, gives good control and nice and cheap!
