These are not quite from the saddle, but a few from southern Germany. It’s been quite wet this past week or so, but some days have been perfect for getting up into the hills.

Ah, it’s a Colombian Energy Block of course (I couldn’t resist when I saw it in the shop).

We (Colombians) call them bocadillos, which is incidentally what the Spanish call sandwiches. They're even more banging paired up with a mild cheddar or for ultimate on-bike portability, a babybel!
Those branded lucho dillitos (word play on Luis 'Lucho' Herrera, legendary Colombian cyclist from the late 80s) kinda wind me up though, the plastic wrapper specifically, given the bocadillo already comes wrapped in a leaf, guess it's a must to help them last longer and include nutritional info, etc.

The more you know!
We did all laugh at the blurb about natural leaf packaging, which was encased in plastic. Mental really.Worth seeking out other manufacturers? Know of any available in the UK?

Basically any Latino / South American shop will have them, so fairly easy to source around areas in South London with a healthy Latino population like Elephant & Castle, Seven Sisters, etc.
Let me hunt down some specific places, and also see if any deliver, although doubt it...
Wouldn't know outside London I'm afraid. -

I’m up north unfortunately. Will see if there’s anything local or online. Thanks for the heads up!

£1.79 for 12, they deliver and Veleños are the real McCoy!
Bet that single Lucho Dillito was at least £1.50!

Wow - you legend. Ordering some now.
-
• #413
Ha, they had 10 in stock and then only 6 by the time I went to order - who else got some?! Even with expensive delivery it was miles cheaper than anything else online.

Now sold out completely! New LFGss favourite snack? Beats gnawing on Kendal mint cake I guess

I ordered the last 6 packets. £1.79 a pack of 12, plus £15 delivery, makes them about 36p each. Each one has about 136 kcals. I usually use clif Shot Bloks on long rides or runs. These have about 200kcals per packet, and cost around £2.50 with discount. I really like the shot bloks, but it's a stupid indulgence.
So I'm going from paying £1.25 per 100kcal of sugary ride fuel, to about 26p per 100kcal.But all hope is not lost. If you still want in on this action (without paying the premium price that wiggle and other places charge), you could always buy it in block form and wrap it yourself for similarly cheap as buying the packets I bought.

I've been buying these from Evergreen Express in Finsbury Park.
Amazing that a picture of a bike on the packaging takes them from 2.99 to £18.
Edit: realise you might mean THE North and not north London!

Where?
I actually came off the saddle to take these, but the view over the Vale of Aylesbury tonight was worth the roadside pause
