Sounds like he's got his priorities reeky straight.
He's a corporate lawyer who owns a machine learning company in the US and has a problen with a neural network...its not as if he can do much to solve the problem himself other than coordinate from his phone.
Regardless, you are correct. I'm pretty sure he'd have more valuable uses for his time than standing in a queue for 12+ hours.

Just got back to the UK and called a client who has some urgent stuff that needs to be done...he's in the queue and has been for 12 hours! Fucking hell!
