Cracking often starts because of a couple of things: either cutouts that haven’t had internal edges rounded or the fender installed in a condition of tension where you have to push it a little to make it fit.

Any other hints/tricks on mounting?

I was given parts bin schwalbe 1 tires and felt a rise over the middle just above the logo. It doesn’t straighten out when you touch it. Would this be a problem when I install and inflate the tire? There’s a similar bump just ahead of the schwalbe 1 logo of the other tire. They both look rarely used. I just noticed a chunk is missing from one of the tires as I wrote that.

It probably rides like shit and gets worse over time.

I’ve had Schwalbe pro ones form a bump and then fail during a ride, I’d switch these out

Would this be a problem when I install and inflate the tire?

If you're going to inflate the tyre, do it outdoors and wear hearing & eye protection.

New saddle, rack, chain, handlebar bag, rear pads and some Heli tape on the chainstay.

Put some Corsa Control 28mm tyres on my partners Mercian. Probably will go a centimetre shorter on the stem eventually to fine tune the fit as well.

Just finished some GB steel ones. Well, or the missus did and I had to deal with a lot of swearing.

The Honjos look a little bit easier to install....

Not like you to have such a mish-mash of parts, although as they're all more or less Campag clones it looks fine from 10 feet 😉

Basically, the idea was to make a full GPM build, I'm still looking for the brake calipers by the way.
Only the long Campag SR seatpost will stay and maybe the front derailleur if I can't find anything better.
GPM derailleurs are shit

Drop bar mode for the Orlowski.
Currently running it single speed, but might change it to fixed in the future.

Started building this up today but the chainring bolts I bought are utter shite and the threads stripped before I even got close to the 7nm recommended torque.
What are my options for good quality black chainring bolts for a 1x setup?

Ison own brand

Saddle treated with proofide, generic skewers swapped out for Halo ones, and kids seat added. Needed a bit of fettling to get it snug. Off to pick up a helmet for mini nef then we’re going to attempt a ride down the canal as a family.
Tightened up everything to make sure it’s all happy. Annoyingly there’s already another chip out the chainstay, so will need to add another bit of Heli tape. D’oh!
