Pragmasis is the brand everyone rates. They're expensive so any Sold secure GOLD lock will be much of a muchness when it comes to deterring thieves, and as long as it ticks your insurance box.
I'd highly recommend getting some sort of GPS tracker too, particularly if you have an ebike.

I got this and also carry a couple of d-locks and a chain that connects to a front wheel cafe lock.

The litelock isn't as flexible as I was expecting, but Sold Secure Diamond and waaaaay lighter than a big motor cycle chain. Tricky to store but mine hangs inside the stormbox on my GSD from one of the rails.

@rwn as @MCamb said. Get a motorcycle chain style lock and make sure you use it and lock the bike to something immovable. I still see so many expensive cargo bikes just locked using the Dutch style rear wheel locks! :O
We cut the legs off an old wetsuit and use that to store the lock in to prevent too much rattling around, but we can stash it behind the kids seat so it doesn't move much.
Also got a pitlock on the front wheel to save us securing that with an additional lock. We have a dynohub so don't want that getting stolen as it's more £'s!

Hive mind absolutely on point today - thanks! Bike comes with an integrated Abus frame lock, but the compatible extension chain isn't SS Gold :(
I was assuming a chain style was needed. Any thought as to length? @stevo_com's suggestion is 100cm, which I'd have guessed would be a bit short. Can you get it around a rack/lamppost/etc even with the box getting in the way?

I generally have to shuffle the bike so that the post I'm locking to is next to the fame, if that makes sense. But if I do that I can get the d locks on too. Bit of a trade off I suppose. A longer chain is easier to lock up with, but then you have to lug it around/store it. The weight wouldn't be such a problem with an e-cargo, but storing it and stopping it from rattling around can be. The chain for my frame lock sits nicely in a pouch on the inside of my stormbox.

what do people reckon the best locks are for a cargo bike?
I have:
- a D1000 Hiplok - https://hiplok.com/product/hiplok-d1000-anti-angle-grinder-bike-lock-waitlist/
- a Kryptonite NEW YORK FAHGETTABOUDIT CHAIN 1415 - https://www.kryptonitelock.com/en/products/product-information/current-key/999492.html
- a Monimoto Tracker - https://monimoto.com/uk/shop/
- Insurance
Still feels like it isn't sufficient in London!

I really want one of these. Watching a reviewer go through 7 discs and still not open it was confidence inspiring.

How do you rate the tracker? I've been looking for an option after numerous unsuccesful attempts by backpedal to install the powunity one in my bulliit, had a quick look on the site and it seems a bit chunky, just wondering where you could put it?

I’d just go with whatever allows the insurance to be valid + one extra if whatever you can afford.
To me, London is a case of when not if

Fortunately we escaped to East Lothian ;)
I'm leaning towards a Pragmasis 13mm chain with a noose and a quality D-lock. Might get their Dib one as it's a fair price.
The D1000 looks amazing but maybe overkill. Will consider tracker.

Tracker is great. I've also got a hiplock cafe thing that i put around the battery.

As a D lock i use the Kryptonite New York M18-WL which can be had at a reasonable price from Mr Bezos at the mo
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kryptonite-York-Lock-M18-WL-U-lock/dp/B000AOA3W6It's a monster and also long enough to reach around frame/rear wheel and most bike lock infra.
Not been nicked yet, though it has only a been a week -

I would totally give that a go! 😁

What bars have y'all got on your cargo bikes? I'm not finding the standard ones on the Bullitt particularly comfortable - finding the hand position a bit cramped.
-
• #10068
I had klunkers on bullitt, was great
-
• #10069
Ritchey Kyote bars are the least cramped bars I've tried!
-
• #10070
Got these Alix bars, quite liking them. I also like bullmoose bars for cargo too

Maniac &Sane....wowwwww..gorgeous machines !

I checked with them by the way and they can do the Maniac with the bigger 800mm platform for the same price.
As new bike day isn't far off (EXCITED), what do people reckon the best locks are for a cargo bike? (Front box variety) Will probably have to be "Sold Secure Gold" for insurance purposes...
