Have just removed The Crapocaster's bridge, drilled out and filled the holes ready for repositioning forward a few mm. Think I need to increase the width of the rout a few mm as I was happy with the l-r alignment but it was rubbing on one side.

I need some new screws too.

Thanks! Really happy with the way it looks. It sounds great too. Main issue to resolve is that the truss rod doesn't tighten and I'm not not sure what to do about it. Luckily the neck is a tree-trunk which helps, but I can only get the set-up so far without it working.

The other disappointment is that in embiggening the cutout for the bridge block with the dremmel (the block was rubbing on the sides) I ended up changing the profile of the corners. In order to make it look neat and regular again, I took about 3 or 4 mm off the back of the cutout to straighten up the edge. I hadn't factored in that with the whole bridge moving about 5mm for structural integrity reasons, it ended up with a couple of mil air gap all along the back of the bridge. You can't really see from most angles but it is annoying.

It's been a super fun project. If I can fix the truss rod and finish fettling the nut, I think it's actually going to be bona-fide cool guitar. Acoustically it absolutely spanks my USA Tele's arse, and the pickups sound way better than they have any right to. It's light as a feather and the bat of a neck feels great. If I can get the set-up sorted I think i'll change out the electrics at some point.

Before I offer them out to the greater public, anyone interested in a Fender Vintera Mustang bass (short scale) or Blues Junior guitar amp in tweed? Not used together obv.

Bass has seen a fair bit of home noodling but never been gigged. Change in house layout just means it's going to be in the same room as my P-bass so I don't need both.

Amp is hardly used as I'm really only any good on bass.

Can anyone recommend a guitar tech in north london? I have a bass and a guitar from my youth I'd like to get properly set up. The bass especially I seem unable to get set up nicely and I'm worried that the intervening years have been hard on them as they were kept in an uninsulated garage.

No idea about London guitar techs, but you’re right that storing them in the garage will have caused problems.

If you haven’t already, I’d leave them in the house for a few weeks to re-acclimatise before taking them to be set-up.

The changes in temperature and humidity will make the neck move and you may get some fret sprout, so it’s worth waiting until they’ve stabilised.

I had the guy (whose name escapes me) at creation studios in Kentish Town set up my PRS, which I’d struggled get spot on. Good job, nice guy, would recommend

@rodan yes - I don't know how long they were there, I thought they were in the attic so they were moved at some point, all while I wasn't able to take them as I was living in tiny places. Out of sight, out of mind. I've had them back a couple years now so should be stabilised. The guitar looks OK, but the bass I'm worried about. It's a stingray which I really loved and I have had to really screw the truss rod up tight so worried there. It's also been without a pickguard for years, I ordered a new one only to find the screw holes don't quite line up so worried the body has cupped.

Can anyone recommend some online (ideally free, I am a skinflint) guitar lessons for an 8 year old that wants to play but has never fretted a chord?

I have a lp copy from neither brand, what are the differences between Epiphone and Gibson nutz?

I think it's the neck width - but can't remember which is which. Probably best to measure your guitar and check which one will fit.
