Competitive mourning, what a great observational phrase. Looking at some of the shit my wife is showing me that her mates have posted on Facebook, that is spot on.

If I was Andrew Windsor, I would avoid the issue simply by not being a sweaty nonce in public.

People do know that the Queen didn't actually jump out of the helicopter in the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics don't they? The way I've seen people talking about it I'd think most people did think she did. My only real lasting memory of her presence at that ceremony was her apparent boredom of Team GB walking out.

I know that when I posted on her that opinion polls showed her popularity peaked in 2012 when she jumped out of the helicopter, several people corrected me to tell me it wasn't actually her.

Perhaps should have used emojis so people didn't think I was being serious. No idea if anybody actually believes the 86 year old queen jumped out of a helicopter and managed to make it back to her seat in five minutes but there are some pretty dumb people out there.
