Great frames, these. I still miss mine a bit. They have a bit of a following in the states where they're more well known and go for 2x as much it seems.
Zingy columbus, built up into the lightest bike I've owned.
Edit : it seems to be a 53cm
Edit edit: it's got blingy carbon Eurox cantis, too. -

What a nightmare of clashing colours! I thought Cipo had better fashion sense.

I was going to post that in anti earlier but never got round to it

Principia with mint 7700 group.
These are ultra light frames - Handbuilt in Denmark & criminally overlooked in the S.H market

That’s lovely. Very tempted by that, except that there’s no way I could suffer a 39/23 as my lowest gear these days….

The seat tube cannondale script on that Cipollini bike bugs me, there's enough pics of the real one on the Internet to get it facing the right way!
It sold a few days back but has now been relisted..... -

Old Large Dura Ace covered in London £220 BiN
I bought it! Thanks for the heads-up. Just got it home. Almost an entire first generation Dura Ace group, including headset and cable clips! I've never seen this groupset in the wild before. I doubt there were many sold in the UK. Shimano didn't have much in the way of UK distribution or reputation in the mid '70s.
This one was bought in the Netherlands, where Shimano had their first marketing push at pro level in Europe. They sponsored the Flandria team in '73 at a time when Japanese components were a bit of a joke. https://flandriabikes.com/pages/chocolate-components-and-conspiracy.
In 1986 Madison won the UK Shimano franchise from R.J. Chicken, who'd never achieved much with it. One of Shimano's conditions was that Madison would employ a full time Shimano UK brand manager. I was hired by mistake and lasted 6 weeks. But it didn't dent my admiration for Shimano. I was already a proud owner of 6 speed 7400 bought from Condor. It was a great way of provoking cycling club types with Campag.

Good score, I'm glad someone bought it quick as I was considering it to stick the groupset in a box for the right frame...
-
• #66118
The frame's much too big for me. I just want to make some money selling the components. It would be fun to fit them to a '70s Japanese frame, but I need cash. I hope they're not too worn.

I was a great fan of first gen Shimano and ran it on a few bikes mid 70's. Have a few sets in the shed at the moment including some black stuff. Hubs were classy especially the large flange.
I was very much alone aside from Phil Bayton riding for Dawes Dura Ace, who I followed in the team car once :)
-
• #66121
My goodness! I never knew Dawes made anything nippier than the Galaxy! Got any pics?
What put you on to Dura Ace? Who was promoting and selling it?
-
• #66122
Solid, that looks to be in great shape.

I have a sneaky feeling Phil Bayton rode a frame wrapped in Dawes colours but made by someone else, Kevin Sayles maybe. lol. Pinky, purple colours.

I think Ian Hallam at KP Crisps SABA also had Dura Ace kit but memory fades lol
I worked at Cliff Pratt Cycles in Hull so got stuff at trade price, Dura Ace gave the best bang per buck in quality and looks. Not a lot of cachet though as everyone wanted campag. Crane rear mech was not 100% but some work with a file improved things :)
Otherwise was Sakae Ringo which had lovely anodising and the odd smattering of titanium bolts :)
The RJ Chicken rep was always good for oddities, got a nice fluted Belleri stem for example. Kyokuto Pro Ace pedals were nicer than Campag too. Edco headsets I think we're also from chicken.
Happy days lol.
