Quite like the new Alpinist "Rock Face"
https://www.seikowatches.com/uk-en/products/prospex/spb355j1
Now can someone tell me why it's rubbish and I shouldn't want it?

Anyone have any recommendations on where to get a half decent leather watch strap, finally getting round getting a new one for my late dads watch. Should probably get it serviced but am dreading how much it would cost…

Hah yeah looks fun. Imagine lots of interesting strap combos with that. £800 is £800 though.

You could try Stevostraps for a leather one

I’ve always used Hirsch for replacements on my brietling. Lovely Air King.

Valiant efforts everyone. I still like it but let's see how I feel about it in a week or two!

Pros:
- it’s an £800 Seiko
Cons:
- it’s an £800 Seiko
You know what you’re getting. For me I’m not sure about the blue tinted hands and dial furniture. Maybe because it will inevitably look like an imitation of heat blueing and not the real thing. Dunno. It’s got something going on. Probably looks radically different IRL.

I've been very impressed with the quality of the Two Stitch one for the price

Good to see Iga Swiatek drop her Datejust 36 into her racket bag before playing.
Guess she probably won’t go on a wait list if anything untoward happens

Everytime i get the urge to buy an Alpinist, i remind myself the hour hand looks like a bell-end.
This simple trick has saved me £££ on countless occasions.

Had a look at the Frog-leg tribute Tudor GMT in T4 WoS, not feeling it at all in the metal.
Also, the Brexists removing VAT free sales must be a killer for these places.

Seen in Phillips catalog, from a past sale..
I cannot really explain why but blue Tudor sub are so appealing to me..

It's because they got the blue shade of the dial just right with a complementary shade for the bezel ring rather than a clashing loud orange.
At the other end of the price spectrum, this is quite nice.

My just under 16 month old victorinox carbon inox auto has a problem. I hadn't worn it for a few days so had to reset the time and date this morning. I set the date but when I tried to set the time the winder just span without resistance. I wound it back in and out and tried again now no winding resistance in either position and the clicks between the two positions feel vague. It's a selita sw200 movement. Just something become disengaged or a small part inside broken? The winder pin itself is intact. I'm hoping this is minor so should i go through warranty and wait however many weeks or just take it locally for repair? It's working and keeping time fine apart from that.
EDIT: The crown appears to screw back down straight and snugly although i can't get it to catch anything on its way back in but it now requires only the lightest of pulls to take it from the second position to being able to pull it out completely. -

Sorry to keep spamming but just had a big bill come in and it's looking like I'm moving this via Watchfinder if I can't sell it here:
Speedmaster 311.30.42.30.01.005 steel bracelet, hesalite, 2020 model, comes with box, papers, receipt, all case candy including tool and eyeglass thing plus nasa strap and Omega NATO
£3200 if it goes this week - cheers kids

So turns out I have tiny wrists, and the strap I bought as per here https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16674458/ is too long... anyone got any suggestions of where to get a nice rubber strap for the tiny-wristed (as in, 5.5inch lug to lug) gentleman?!

I've got one like this
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ullchro-Silicone-Replacement-Waterproof-Pattern/dp/B077D4GSZD/ref=asc_df_B077D4GSZD
very cheap hardware but very adjustable because you just slide the buckle along then cut the overlap off. -

Did you check the position of the hands before changing the date? If it's halfway through its automatic date change you manually advance the date it can mess things up.

They were around the 6:30 position so nothing to do with that. Google is throwing up loads of sw200 winding issues but this seems uncommon on a newish watch. I've never wound it just reset the time and date and given it a shake to wake it up every time its needed it. I'm hoping I've just pulled it out a bit to far and it's just become disengaged as i can get it to engage in any position and no stripped teeth which is why I thought it might be a quick not too expensive fix which i could get done locally and avoid a long warranty turnaround. I'm waiting to hear back from Victorinox 🤞
I’m sorry to hear that
