  • Pluperfect subjunctive, no? The meaning is pretty clear though, so does it matter if it doesn't fit with anachronistic strict grammar.

  • I don't know but I don't like it. I'm not a grammar nerd but it's like you're talking about your possible future state from the point of view of the past, rather than an alternate/conditional version of the past. Or something.
