Damn, I'm organising a street party on Saturday. Maybe I'll be up for it Sunday though. Hope you have a good time. Sadly the weather forecast looks bad for outdoor events in London.

not a big fan of flashy colourful vinyl usually but thought this was quite nice -
(the upper was their "tour" version of the vinyl, the below is the "regular" one)

I need to downsize a little bit, since I've run out of room on my record shelves and I'm not ready to have the conversation with my wife about how we need another set of shelves quite yet. Everything I've got up for sale is on here - happy to do some discounts on multiple bits if there's anything that interests you.

A question on Discogs etiquette. I ordered a record from a seller in Italy, who was very helpful, a decent sort. I got an email saying it had been delivered on Monday, which it hadn't. Today, my neighbour gave me it, having found it on a wall down the street. Opened it, and the corners of the sleeve are all damaged and the inners are split. Vinyl itself is fine, but it just looks battered.
What's the usual approach here? Ask him to take it back and send at my own expense? I can get the same record for the a few quid more over here, and would rather have an undamaged copy.

What was the external packaging like?
How was the cover graded?
Good sellers take the vinyl out if the sleeve to prevent it damaging the sleeve in transit.
If the sleeve was graded better than delivered, I would message them with pics and say you are disappointed with the condition.
If the package was damaged then it is not really their fault (assuming it was strong enough to start with).

Thanks for the response.
The external packaging was alright - standard UPS cardboard sleeve with masking tape. My thinking is that his chosen carrier didn't deliver it to my house (I was home at the time they say it was delivered), and it was found in the street damaged. Would that not be on the seller?
It's mint, which is why I'd be a bit less happy to accept the high level of foxing - the first 2 Beth Orton albums were re-released recently in a limited edition of 2,000 - I've got the other one from elsewhere*, and it feels unsatisfactory that this one looks like it's been played football with.
*Just arrived from Rough Trade 10 minutes ago, in much stronger packaging.

Would that not be on the seller?
I guess they would have to raise a claim against the carrier. Definitely worth contacting them.

A question on Discogs etiquette.
Never buy from or sell to Italians. Sorry to say it's a nightmare in my experience.
You won't know until you communicate with the seller what the outcome will be. I've had people immediately refund me when I've (rightly) complained about grading. Sometimes as a seller you just have to take a hit.
Very unlikely the seller is a chancer who posted a messed up sleeve thinking you might be cool with that, after all that business model is not going to survive on Discogs. On the other hand can you reach a compromise where you pay what it's worth with a damaged sleeve and sell it on?
In the end if it's not as described you have Paypal to fall back on.

I have bought from Italians 3 or 4 times and had no issues at all, maybe I was lucky?!

Never buy from or sell to Italians.
Easy squire, my OH is Italian!
Yeah, I'll drop him a line, see how it goes - pretty sure he's a business, as most of what he's selling is new and he had RSD stuff that wasn't being sold at flipping prices. I really don't think he was a chancer.
Will report back on progress, and I did use Paypal, so that's a good point.

I know lots of lovely Italians :)
It's always a pain when deals go wrong. I'm finding it very difficult to buy anything at the moment because I'm getting so picky!

Anyone else having issues with new records and the run-in skipping? I have had about three recently that once you drop the needle into the lead it immediately jumps to a few grooves into the track (starting stationary or moving).
Had a brand new album delivered today (Dangermouse & Black Thought - Cheat Codes, superb for any hip hop fans) and it is doing the same.
I think my counter-weight is pretty spot on and arm height etc, it does it on both of my decks (cartridges are about 3 months old). Never had it until very recently.

I’ve had this on a huge percentage of new records I’ve bought over the past few years. Absolutely infuriating
-
• #1665
I've also experienced it more recently. Always on newer pressings.
I noticed that this was happening more if I was dropping the needle close to the beginning of the track (I'm impatient and don't like 10 secs of silence).
I do believe it happened less or not at all (on the same record) if I was dropping the needle earlier/closer to the edge of the record. If that makes sense. -
• #1666
I’ve had it on one deck but not the other. Different carts/needles same type of deck/arm. For that reason I’ve assumed it’s the needle profile or setup that’s causing it.

Have I just stumbled across you on discogs?!
-
• #1668
Yes. I’m away at the moment so I’ve taken the inventory off the marketplace. I think my collection is private because I started getting loads of requests for digital rips of records I own!
I’ve linked my Discogs account on here before so I don’t mind the details being on here.

What an incredible coincidence!!! I was after a copy of Dread in a Babylon and stumbled across your comments!

I have 2 but one is an early repress and not in stellar condition. It’s a great album.

My mate had a copy years ago and I recorded it and have always meant to get a physical copy. The cover is amazing as well!!

Just came across this after searching for outer sleeves for some lp's. I like the idea of dual pocket with a single flap option so have ordered a pack to try out but was wondering if anyone has used them before or used alternatives from other places?
-
• #1673
Never seen anything like those. Would be interesting to see, I find the normal resealable ones are a pain to use but at least they are cheap which is important for the quantity I'm using.
The double flap would be useful for LP's that get played a lot. I still don't like to see the vinyl outside the sleeve and it worries me if they were packed tightly together they could damage the sleeves by crushing the edges.
I've used Covers33 and have most of their products. Their gatefold cover is probably the one I like best, the very thin poly outers are useful but have their problems from time to time.

Anyone found any sleeves that are UV resistant and decent quality?
-
• #1675
I hear that. I’m more into 12” singles so these are good for the LP’s that I play often. I use the covers33 inners you recommended way back and they feel great.
From first impressions the sleeves seem well made and function as they should, quite clear and fit the tested LP. A bit on the baggy side but prob normal for the type of sleeve it is. Overall feels good and would buy again if I had to.
Hope these photos help show what they are like but photographing something see through is funnily enough quite hard

For any crate diggers not gone away this long w/e, the quarterly record fair at the Truman Brewery (Brick Lane) is back this weekend. Saturday and Sunday from 10 or 11am iirc.
