Android phones, apps and tablets

Any recommendations for a case for a Pixel 6? Ideally some fairly slimline rubber effort. If it evens out that camera bump it would be a bonus.

I've got a spigan one, I got it after the spigan one I got for my pixel 3 means my pixel 3 is still in use, doesn't flatten the camera bump too much though.

i've got google's own one.
it's 'ok' - fairly slim, and the edges wrap around the screen a bit so you can put the phone face down. bit spenny for what it is though.

I have the same one. Just noticed it's started to stretch and sag in places

Mine has a little panel of fake carbon fibre, so it looks super cool and it's quite fun to scratch your nail across to make DJ scratchy noises.

You could even write a tasker (or other automation system) script to turn this on when you open an app or start a ride or whatever, turning it off again afterwards.

It's turning on the function when you open the app anyway. The battery saving mode is just not continuously updating location while you're not using location dependent apps.

That is a very good point. My suggestion was idiotic.

Cheers all. Official google one is probably the style I'm looking for but seems a bit expensive. Think the spigen ones might be a bit bulky but on the other hand it is a brand I've heard of and not too pricey.

I've got the Spigen tough armor one. I've used these for four different pixel phones and they've always been great. It is LARGE but I need something that's going to withstand the weekly concrete floor drops it receives from me.

Anyone with a pixel 5 noticed their microphone quality is really crap when on calls? Recently I've had a few comments on how poor my mic is (sounds like I'm underwater or in another room) is this a hardware issue?

Yeh dark arts sales tactics. They raised the price back up on the 6 earlier in the week.

Not as good as the 5000mAh of my aquatic Moto G5G.
The 6A has run down to Battery Saving mode, 5%, a couple of times,
but I do not know if those days started at 100% charge.
I always carry an Anker 10000mAh power pack with me when out on long bike rides, (GPS, SportsTracker, 'net, podcasting, etc).
It sometimes seems to charge very slowly, from a mains Motorola 20W charger.

Yeh makes for a great price with trade in and discount. £182 for me trading in a very beat up iPhone 7 Plus - a bit more if they decide it’s in worse condition.

I’ve been using an iPhone for years and never had an android phone though, so hoping I like it, good opportunity to try at that price.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised, the transition is quite straight forward. It can actually be harder to move back the other way as you then lose the function buttons (virtual) at the bottom.

Just pulled the trigger on the 6A, price too good to pass and gives me another couple of years worth of phone.

Google just agreed to RMA my bulging Pixel 4. Think it'll do me for another couple of years at least.
