• Yo.

I need some rack help. I just bought a new gravel bike (Dolan GXA) and I am probably going to use it as my commuting bike through the autumn and winter. I have a Carradice Nelson and some Apidura/Restrap bar bags, but there are going to be days when I want to ride in and take a backpack/satchel with my laptop etc.

So I am thinking front rack. The fork has mounts at the drop-outs and a mount at the rear of the fork crown so I think this rules out - for example - the Specialized pizza tray/mount or whatever it's called, which seems to rely on mid-fork blade mounts and a front fork crown mount.

Anyone got any suggestions on what might/will work for me? I've attached a few photos - sorry they're a bit busy in the background, I just snapped them quickly with the bike in the lock-up.

    Cheers!

  • I wouldn't mount anything on those mounts. They're for mudguards, not any sort of load

  • I have a bor yeuh front rack, but also have a drilled fork crown. It mounts on those mudguard eyelets and has been fine with up to 3kg load (steel frame though). Would agree with phildas on heavier load.

  • Same issue with my sonder. Mounted a wald 137 using the bar mount/fender eyelets. It works fine. Have a jack the rack on the way to replace it.
