  • I have never relubed my bearings.

  • You would have to start if you removed all the seals

  • He means sealed bearings that aren’t buried away behind additional sealing type thingies or presumably sunk in to holes in the frame

  • Gotcha, carry on.

  • I think the guards are there to stop enthusiastic jet washing from blowing all the grease out as much as anything else.

Whatever- I think it shows that thought has been applied and I’ll find out over the next couple of years how well it works.

Jibb is now together, rear brake not quite where I want it but I’ve ordered some Root levers which will mean another bleed, so I’ll put some heat and vibration into the system this weekend to chase any air out of the calipers.

  • so I’ll put some heat and vibration into the system at the Bull Track this weekend to chase any air out of the calipers.

  • Still waiting to hear about tickets for that!

  • Where at? Feel like giving me a lift?

  • In a pub in Crowborough right now, but I’m afraid no spare seats otherwise happy to

  • Very short shakedown on the Jibb today at the Bull Track - short jump lines with a push-up basically.

Settled on 200 psi in the fork and 210 in the shock, but damping and rebound is very approximate right now and needs to be dealt with tomorrow.

Good news is: nothing fell off, everything worked, and once I'd got used to it (feels very different to the Madonna!) it's both fast and confidence inspiring.

  • Oh, and today test of my new Fidlock bottle has been pretty good - I ejected my conventional bottle a couple of times on the Madonna in the Alps and that's very annoying, so I think Fidlock might be the answer.

  • Loved my Fidlock, never came off even on very rough stuff, cased jumps, or crashes. Bit annoyed I can't use it on my Geometron unless it's in a silly place

  • Salsa nickless with a ziptie between the sides. You won't loose a bottle

  • There's no space for a bottle inside the front triangle. I haven't tried a smaller bottle tbf

  • You reckon the Jibb is more of a jump on and piss off into the sunset as opposed to a technical exercise?

  • Ish. I mean, the Madonna was very easy to setup but then you can’t dick around with the coil- it is what it is. I might take a firmer one out next time, as I did bottom it out a few times, but then they were hard hits.

The Jibb (being air both ends) has more to fiddle with, but I’ve set it in “middle of the range” and will see how it goes. Just started drizzling though which is a little annoying

  • Much longer ride on the Jibb today - very impressed with it, got my first manual between rollers and also my first "brrrrrrp" noises from the rear tyre in some berms. Fun!

  • This is a bit annoying- what’s the best way of fixing the area where the anodising has worn off?

  • New frame

  • Custom aftermarket crabon fribé rear triangle.

  • Don't have an answer but what caused it to wear off?

  • I've often used this to retouch black aluminium components, before selling them to unsuspecting mugs on here. Sometimes it works wonders, though sometimes not at all

Or you could find a nice sticker

Or ignore it, as it's a mountain bike

  • Don't have an answer but what caused it to wear off?

The bag that fits to the underside of the top tube that has a multi-tool, CO2 inflator etc in was not in quite the right position.
