I ended up getting some of these as my emergency backup specs, they fit the bill perfectly and fit in my wallet. I have yet to wear them without someone taking the piss out of me, but the great thing about getting older is that I don't actually give a fuck!

I have a pair of Porsche Design readers for that purpose. They don’t fold to wallet size but they don’t take up much space, can slide into a top tube bag or even down the side of a saddle pack, and are fairly robust. More than good enough for unplanned bike adjustments etc. The 8801 is the most compact and can sometimes be had at a not too painful price.
