  • @photoben was one of the creators if I recall correctly

  • Hey, yes @benjam and I made Attack The Pack a while back. Still selling copies!

Good luck with the playtesting. Head to London Playtest UK, loads of good people there willing to test and give advice.

    It’s a fun process! What’s the theme?

  • I picked up Fleet The Dice Game at the Uk Gsmes Expo, really enjoyed it. Oh and the ‘new’ netrunner. Need to get some more games of that in soon.

  • Benjam and Photoben. Attack the pack

Ah, I was too busy reminding myself of details to see the page updates.

  • Ah excellent, well done! I'll read through your thread @itsbruce linked to for the history.

I'm very much at the start of the protest. It's an RPG style game with some simple character progression, items, locations, monsters to fight, stuff to collect etc.

I'd been spending a lot of time of developing the theme, but I found that was starting to distract from getting a functioning game together. I was getting bogged down writing flavour text and making up creatures and items and whatnot. I've recently pretty much scrapped the theme I had and decided to use the very established DnD/classic fantasy world temporarily. I figured it's basically all there already and it works very well for RPGs, so I can just concentrate on the mechanics of the game, then go back afterwards and re-theme it to something more interesting and leftfield.

Once ive got it in a playable form, I'll do some play testing with mates and then investigate London Playtest UK. Cheers!

  • Nice. Good luck! I will say he one thing I’d do again was do more blind playtesting, I.e. testing your rule book. We had kids playing the game so knew it wasn’t complicated, but our first edition rulebook meant we had a a fair few questions asking us for rule clarifications, which we sorted in our second edition.

  • Anyone played Quest to Eldorado? Looks quite fun. In the market for something new that's not too complicated.

  • doesnt matter, thread just updated.

  • I have it, and it's excellent. Great at all player counts too.

  • Coincidentally played this for the first time at draughts literally last weekend. More or less on a whim, but because I'd heard a lot about it. Good game I thought, seemed like you'd want 4 playing ideally. Want to play again, so yeah, fun!

  • Any recommendations for new games released recently? Four player, relatively low difficulty.

On another note, if anyone's got a copy of 'Yacht Race' from the 60's going spare I'd be interested to purchase!

  • Azul is good, as is Arboretum.
Depends what kind of games you like?

  • Does anyone play Netrunner on Jinteki.net and want a game?

  • Don't have too much to contribute, but these two come to mind

TRAILS which I haven't actually tried yet but is apparently a simplified version of PARKS which is really really good and beautiful too.
So Clover a really fun co-op, immensely simple and very satisfying, has been a hit with anyone I've played with, friends or family.

  • Has anyone played the online multi player version of codenames? Wondering about doing it for a remote games night.

  • Yeah I have, it works well.

Secret Hitler is also a good online game to play.

  • Does anyone know of a game where you pick a card that has a category on it, then players take it in turn to bet how many examples of that category they think they can name until eventually someone is called out by another player to have to list the number they 'betted'? Not sure if it's an actual game or just one of those things I've played without any cards/board. Colleague mentioned it as he's looking to get it for a work party and it's bugging me if it's actually a thing or not.

  • Scattergories?

edit: probably not exactly what you’re looking for as it doesn’t incorporate this sort of betting element.

  • Not Scattergories but I'll suggest that to him if we can't work out what this other one is (if it exists). We seem to recall the name of the game is what you say when you're calling out someones bet, like how you have to say Uno when one card is left, you'd say the name of this game when you challenge someone to list the number that they've bet.

  • It loosly reminds me of Dixit I think?

Edit, no not that, that's the image one.

  • Sounds like a parlour game to me. Have played something vaguely similar that we called thoughts and crosses.

  • The nearest I can think of is Skull where people are trying to out bid people but that has nothing to do with (general) knowledge.

  • Why does this need to be a board game?

It's just a game to play by voice isn't it?

(Is that what a parlour game is?)

  • We had this as a pack of cards from Sainsbury's cheap presents range a few Christmas-es ago but can't find it anywhere at the moment...distinctly remember playing against the family and getting frustrated at just how long my father-in-law was taking each time he had his turn!

If I find it you're welcome to it...
